Sesame oil not only exudes a rich aroma, but also has high nutritional value. It contains a variety of nutrients needed by the human body, especially unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E. After consumption, it can protect the cardiovascular system, accelerate fat metabolism in the body, and enhance the body's antioxidant capacity.

As one of the more common condiments on the table, many people like to eat sesame oil. However, it is best not to consume too much sesame oil, otherwise it is easy to cause nausea, vomiting and other discomfort symptoms. How long is the shelf life of sesame oil

The shelf life of sesame oil is 18 months. Unopened sesame oil can be stored in the refrigerator for about two years. Adding a little refined salt to the opened sesame oil can better preserve it. Pure sesame oil is light red and has no sediment, while inferior sesame oil is mixed with peanut oil or rapeseed oil, has an unstable shelf life and poor quality.

The shelf life of sesame oil is generally 18 months, and unopened sesame oil can be stored in the refrigerator for about two years. During the storage process, if the sesame oil is found to have a weak fragrance and emits a special pungent smell, it means that it has been oxidized and deteriorated, and it is not recommended to continue to eat it.

Put the opened sesame oil into a small-mouthed glass bottle, add a little fine salt, then seal the bottle tightly and shake until the salt melts. After placing it in a cool, dark place for three days, pour the precipitated sesame oil into a clean dark glass bottle and cover it with a lid for better preservation.

Good quality sesame oil is clear and transparent, without precipitation and floating substances, and is light red with bright color. Some sesame oils are mixed with peanut oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil and other substances, which not only have unstable shelf life but also poor quality, so it is not recommended to choose inferior sesame oil.

How to store sesame oil without spoiling

To preserve sesame oil, you can put it in a glass bottle, add 1 gram of refined salt for every 500 grams of sesame oil, seal the bottle mouth and shake the bottle, then put the sesame oil in a cool place for 2 to 3 days, and after removing the sediment, it can be stored for more than 1 year. However, you should be careful not to use plastic bottles to store sesame oil, otherwise it will cause the sesame oil to deteriorate faster.

Fresh sesame oil can be stored in a glass bottle with a small mouth. Add 1 gram of refined salt for every 500 grams of sesame oil. After plugging the bottle mouth, shake the glass bottle continuously to allow the refined salt to fully dissolve in the sesame oil. Then place the sesame oil in a cool place for 2 to 3 days. After removing the sediment, pour the sesame oil into the glass bottle. The sesame oil can be stored for more than one year.

When storing sesame oil, be careful not to use plastic bottles, because the chemical properties of oil and plastic are similar. If you use a plastic bottle to hold sesame oil, the nutrients in the sesame oil may be dissolved quickly, and the sesame oil will deteriorate faster.

At the same time, when storing sesame oil, you should pay attention to the ambient temperature. Generally speaking, it is more appropriate to store sesame oil at room temperature. If sesame oil is stored in a refrigerator or other low-temperature environment, it is easy to crystallize, and the edible value and taste of the sesame oil will be affected.
