To keep children away from myopia, parents should know these things!

Children's self-control is relatively weak, so the key lies in parents setting a good example for their children and guiding them to protect their eyesight and take care of their eyes.

How to detect whether a child is myopic as early as possible?

Blurred vision (unable to see the words on the blackboard, or complaining that the light in the room is too dim); squinting, frowning, or pulling the corners of the eyes when looking at distant objects; frequent blinking or rubbing eyes; often tilting the head to look at objects; keeping the eyes close to the books when reading. If the child has the above symptoms, go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid missing the best time for treatment.

Once diagnosed with true myopia, is it possible to recover?

From the perspective of the mechanism of myopia, myopia is irreversible under current medical technology! Among children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with myopia, most of them are due to axial myopia caused by the elongation of the eye axis, except for a small number of cases caused by abnormal curvature of the refractive medium. Just like a child's height will not get shorter, the eye axis will not get shorter after it gets longer.

What aspects should we focus on to protect children’s eyesight?

1. 0~6 years old is the critical period for children's visual development. Parents should pay attention to their children's early vision protection and health, learn more about scientific eye use and eye protection knowledge, set an example and help their children develop good eye habits, and prevent myopia in time.

2. Correctly understand the importance of outdoor activities and take your children outdoors more often. It is recommended to conduct outdoor activities for more than 2 hours a day to protect hyperopia reserves and prevent myopia.

3. Control the use of electronic products. Electronic products for non-learning purposes should not be used for more than 15 minutes at a time. Electronic products for learning purposes should be used for about 30 minutes at a time, followed by a 10-minute break, looking into the distance or closing your eyes to relax.

4. Reduce the burden of extracurricular learning for children. Cooperate with kindergartens or schools to reduce the burden on children, and do not blindly participate in extracurricular training. Guide children not to read or use electronic products while walking, eating, lying in bed, in a shaking car, in dim light or under direct sunlight. Supervise and correct children's bad reading and writing postures at any time. They should maintain "one foot, one fist, one inch", and the continuous use of eyes for reading and writing should not exceed 30 minutes.

5. Ensure your child gets enough sleep and let him/her eat more fish, fruits, green vegetables and other foods that are beneficial to vision health.

6. Early detection and early intervention. If your child squints or has trouble seeing the blackboard during class, take him/her to a regular medical institution for examination and follow the doctor's advice for scientific myopia intervention and correction.
