The cultivation cycle of tulips

October to November: Use a 10-20 cm diameter flower pot for planting bulbs. Place a 3 cm thick charcoal residue, brick and stone particles, ceramsite, etc. at the bottom of the pot as a drainage layer, and add loose and fertile neutral soil. Note that you must use new soil. Do not use old soil that has been used to plant lilies and bulbous flowers to prevent infection by viruses, nematodes, etc. Plant 1 to 2 bulbs per pot with a diameter of 10 to 15 cm, and 3 to 5 bulbs per pot with a diameter of 18 to 20 cm. When planting, the top of the bulb should be flush with the soil surface. Place it in a shaded place for 3 to 5 days after planting, and place it outdoors in a cool place after watering thoroughly. Water it when the surface of the pot soil is dry below 1 cm.

December to February of the following year: In the cold season, you can wrap the flower pot with foam plastic and place it outdoors in a sunny place away from the wind. The root system can grow above 5℃. Do not water the pot soil unless it is dry, and water it thoroughly when you do.

March to April: Buds emerge in March. 15-18℃ is the period of vigorous growth of stems and leaves. Keep them in the sun. Water them once a week with 1‰ full-element compound fertilizer. Spray the leaves with warm water once or twice a day. After the buds appear, sprinkle water on the ground around the potted flowers frequently to increase the air humidity. They can bloom in April and May.

May to June: Generally, the plant can be discarded after flowering. Mountainous and plateau areas have unique conditions and can continue to be maintained. For plants that bloom around the Spring Festival in general areas, there are more than two months of suitable growth period after flowering. If you are interested, you can continue to grow it for another year. The method is: cut off the flower head immediately after the flower wilts, and keep the pedicel to transfer nutrients to the new bulb. Place the flower pot in a cool, ventilated and well-lit place, and water it with 1‰ full-element compound fertilizer solution every 10 days to promote the growth of new bulbs. After the leaves wilt, the pot soil still needs to be kept moist for about half a month.

July to September: Stop watering and fertilizing, and place the bulbs in a cool place to let them dormant. Dig out the bulbs in October. If the diameter of the new bulbs is more than 3 cm, they can be replanted and maintained according to the management method of the first planted bulbs. They are expected to bloom again in April of the following year.
