What to do if your breasts retract

What to do if your breasts retract

Many women will experience breast retraction when they reach middle age, especially after feeding their children. Breast retraction will make women's breasts look less full than before. The breasts will instantly no longer be upright, but become listless and droop downwards. Breast retraction is a headache for women. After all, every woman wants to have a good figure. Let’s take a look at what to do about breast retraction?

What is nipple retraction?

Nipple retraction occurs when a tumor invades the nipple or areola area. The fibrous tissue and duct system of the breast may shorten, pulling the nipple, causing it to become sunken, deflected, or even completely retracted behind the areola. At this time, the nipple on the affected side is often higher than the healthy side. Breast retraction may be present in early-stage breast cancer, but it may also be a sign of later stages, depending on where the tumor is located.

When the tumor is in or near the nipple, it can appear in the early stage; if the tumor is located in the deep breast tissue, far away from the nipple, this sign usually appears in the late stage. Of course, nipple retraction is not always a malignant disease. Some cases may be caused by congenital maldevelopment or chronic inflammation. At this time, the nipple can be pulled out with the fingers without being fixed.

What are the dangers of nipple retraction?

The local depressions in the areola skin are not cleaned for a long time, and the secretions and pollutants cannot be removed, which will give off a bad smell and easily cause nipple and areola inflammation, and even bleeding to form chronic inflammation;

Even if the nipple cannot be exposed, the mother cannot breastfeed and the baby cannot suck milk, thus affecting the baby's development;

It makes it difficult for the mother to discharge milk smoothly, which will lead to milk duct blockage and milk accumulation, and it is easy to develop acute mastitis and breast abscess. If the mother never breastfeeds, it may also increase the chance of developing breast tumors.

It damages the beauty of women's breasts and makes them lose their proper curves, so inverted nipples need to be actively prevented and treated.

To prevent nipple retraction, pay attention to the following aspects:

1. All mothers, aunts and other direct relatives with retracted nipples should be the focus of prevention. After a baby girl with a genetic predisposition is born, the mother can gently pull the small nipple outward 1 to 2 times a day. Be careful to be gentle and ask an experienced person to do it. In this way, the baby's nipples can be seen protruding from the skin in the shape of green beans or small discs, and the chance of nipple retraction in the future will be greatly reduced.

2. Pay attention to your clothes. Underwear should be made of cotton and should be changed and washed frequently and exposed to sunlight. If the nipples show signs of redness or cracks, the underwear should be steamed and sterilized, and girls should not use bras too early.

3. Prevent extrusion. Underwear and bras should be appropriate and not too tight. For girls with larger breasts, more attention should be paid to the looseness of the breasts. For girls who have the habit of sleeping prone, it is necessary to correct this habit in time to prevent the nipples from being squeezed, so as not to aggravate the degree of nipple retraction.
