Why is Oolong Tea called Oolong Tea?

The "Oolong" in Oolong tea originally came from a hunter. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a tea farmer and hunter in Nanyan Village, Xiping Township, Anxi County, Fujian Province. His surname was Su and his given name was Long. Because he was dark and strong, the villagers called him "Oolong".

One spring, Wulong went up the mountain with a hunting rifle and a tea basket hanging from his waist to pick tea. At noon, a mountain deer suddenly slipped by. Wulong raised his gun and shot, but the wounded mountain deer desperately fled into the forest. Wulong followed closely and finally captured the prey. When he carried the mountain deer home, it was already dark. Wulong and his family were busy slaughtering and tasting game, and had completely forgotten about making tea. The next morning, the whole family was busy frying the "tea green" picked yesterday. Unexpectedly, the fresh leaves that had been placed overnight had been inlaid with red edges and exuded bursts of fragrance. When the tea leaves were made, the taste was particularly fragrant and strong, without the bitter taste of the past. After careful consideration and repeated experiments, after withering, shaking, semi-fermentation, baking and other processes, they finally made a new tea product of excellent quality - Oolong tea. Anxi has thus become a famous tea town for Oolong tea.
