When hearing that their children are nearsighted, many parents get very anxious. Seeing the emergence of a variety of products that can treat myopia on the market, they "seek medical treatment at random" and even seek help from folk remedies. Can myopia be cured? 1. True myopia is irreversible In fact, from the principle of myopia. If your child has been diagnosed with myopia, then myopia is irreversible under the current medical technology conditions! Most children have axial myopia, that is, myopia characterized by the growth of the eye axis. Just like a person will not become shorter after growing taller, the eye axis will not shorten after growing longer. Therefore, once axial myopia caused by eye axis growth occurs, myopia cannot be cured. Knowing this knowledge, you will have a "fiery eye" and the false propaganda of curing myopia will be self-defeating. 2. Pseudomyopia can be restored If the child has accommodative myopia (commonly known as "pseudomyopia" in the folks, for ease of understanding, we will continue to use the term "pseudomyopia" in the following explanation), it can be recovered. We can briefly understand the principle of pseudomyopia, and we will understand why pseudomyopia can be recovered. Our eyes adjust the refractive power by thinning or thickening the small lens (lens) inside the eyes, so that we can see clearly both near and far. When looking far, the ciliary muscle is relaxed, and the lens is relatively thin (small refractive power); when looking close, the ciliary muscle is tense, which makes the lens convex (increased refractive power). Our ciliary muscle is like a spring. Long-term close-range use of the eyes causes the ciliary muscle to be in a state of continuous contraction, spasm and high tension. At this time, the elasticity of the spring will deteriorate, and it will continue to be in a contracted state when looking close. It cannot relax when looking far, which causes the eyes to have pseudomyopia, where the eyes cannot see clearly at a distance but can see clearly at close range. At this time, through medication or changes in eye behavior, the continuous tension of the ciliary muscle can be relieved, the ciliary muscle can be relaxed, and the corresponding pseudomyopia can also be relieved. It should be noted that we cannot equate the reduction of pseudomyopia degree by relieving ciliary muscle spasm with the fact that true myopia can be treated and the degree can be restored. 3. Myopia is preventable and controllable Although true myopia cannot be cured under current medical technology, it is preventable and controllable. Through our efforts, we can delay the further progression of myopia and the continued growth of axial length, reduce the possibility of developing high myopia, and avoid visual impairment. First of all, we should know that we are responsible for our own health and we should protect our eyes. We should strengthen our health awareness, learn scientific knowledge about eye care from an early age, know what myopia is and how it occurs, and then take the initiative to pay attention to our eye health. We should develop scientific eye care habits from an early age and master the health knowledge of scientific eye care. Secondly, you should learn to pay attention to your vision. You can cover your eyes alternately to check your vision. If you find that there is a significant change in the vision of one or both eyes, you should inform your parents and teachers in time and go to the eye hospital for examination as soon as possible. If you can't see far away clearly with glasses, you should also inform your parents in time and go to the hospital for treatment in time. Again, we should do the following in life: * Actively participate in physical exercise and outdoor activities. You should ensure more than 2 hours of outdoor activities every day; * Avoid long-term close-up eye activities such as reading and writing. Look into the distance for 10 minutes every 30 to 40 minutes; * Ensure correct reading and writing posture, and follow the principle of "one fist, one foot, one inch"; * Use electronic products reasonably and consciously reduce their use for non-learning purposes; * Perform eye exercises carefully and correctly, and massage the acupoints correctly until you feel soreness and swelling; * Eat a balanced diet, control the intake of sweets and fried foods, and drink less carbonated drinks; * Ensure sleep time: primary school students should get 10 hours of sleep a day, junior high school students should get 9 hours of sleep a day, and high school students should get 8 hours of sleep a day. Finally, prevention of myopia must start from childhood. Learn scientific eye care knowledge and develop good eye care habits.
