Liver cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer are all types of cancer that we often hear about, but why is there no heart cancer? In fact, the heart can also become cancerous! We explain this through three questions: 1. Pathogenesis of Cancer 2. Characteristics of the heart 3. The process of heart cancer 1. Pathogenesis of cancer Tumor refers to a local mass formed by abnormal proliferation of cells in local tissues under the action of various tumorigenic factors. Benign tumors are easy to remove and generally do not metastasize or recur. They only have squeezing and blocking effects on organs and tissues. However, malignant tumors can also destroy the structure and function of tissues and organs, causing necrosis, bleeding and infection. Patients may eventually die from organ failure. The pathogenic factors that cause cell canceration are generally divided into: ① Physical carcinogens, such as X-rays and ionizing radiation; ② Chemical carcinogens, such as nitrite (usually found in pickled vegetables or overnight dishes) and aflatoxin; ③Viral carcinogens, such as hepatitis B virus and human papillomavirus. Why do humans get cancer? Numerous medical studies and clinical trials have revealed the mystery of the disease: the robbing of electrons from human cells is the source of all diseases. Reactive oxygen species (free radicals ROS) are a substance lacking electrons (unsaturated electron substances). After entering the human body, they compete for electrons everywhere. If they rob the electrons of cell protein molecules, the proteins will be connected to the side chains and alkylated, forming distorted molecules and causing cancer. Because the distorted molecules lack electrons themselves, they will rob the electrons of neighboring molecules, causing the neighboring molecules to distort and cause cancer. In this way, a vicious cycle will form a large number of distorted protein molecules. When these distorted protein molecules reproduce and replicate, their genes mutate. A large number of cancer cells are formed, and finally cancer occurs. Malignant tumors can be divided into two main categories: one is carcinoma and the other is sarcoma. Malignant tumors of mesenchymal tissue are called sarcomas, and malignant tumors of epithelial tissue are called carcinomas. 2. Characteristics of the heart The heart is a major organ in the circulatory system of higher animals. Its main function is to provide pressure for blood flow and to circulate blood to all parts of the body. The heart is composed of myocardium and has four chambers: the left atrium, the left ventricle, the right atrium, and the right ventricle. The left and right atria and the left and right ventricles are separated by septa, so they are not connected to each other. There are valves (atrioventricular valves) between the atria and ventricles. These valves allow blood to flow from the atria to the ventricles but not backflow. Medically, heart problems usually include: ① Breathing will become difficult, and the chest will feel stuffy and painful. The pain is short-lived, lasting only a few seconds or up to a minute. ② If the condition is serious, the pain will spread from the front chest to the back of the shoulder blade. It will occur every ten days or half a month, or every three to five months. The shorter the time, the more serious it is. ③ A bad heart can cause soreness, numbness, and pain in the left arm, because the nerve of our heart and the nerve of the left arm are the same, so problems with the left heart will involve the left arm. ④ The heart can also cause neck stiffness and difficulty in turning. The neck is often twisted when getting up in the morning. Because of heart problems, the carotid artery will narrow, blood supply will be blocked, and the nearby tendons will lose blood and naturally become stiff. 3. Heart cancer refers specifically to malignant lesions of epithelial tissue, while the heart is mainly composed of muscle tissue, connective tissue, nerve tissue, etc., so primary cancer will not occur (except for metastasis). The heart has no epithelial tissue, so malignant tumors of the heart are not cancer, but sarcomas. The heart is an organ that is constantly moving. It also contains a substance that can control the development of cancer cells. At the same time, the heart and blood vessels form a closed blood circulation system, making it less susceptible to direct invasion by harmful substances from the outside world. Given the special structure of myocardial cells, it is impossible for cancer to occur in the heart. The heart can develop malignant tumors, such as cardiac malignant sarcoma, but compared to other parts and other organs, the incidence of primary malignant tumors of the heart is relatively low. The reasons for this are currently believed to be mainly related to factors such as the internal structure of the heart, myocardial cells, and hemodynamics. Since the heart relaxes and contracts periodically and blood continues to flow, it is difficult for cancer cells to stay in the heart and it is difficult for lesions to develop in the heart. Therefore, the chance of malignant tumors in the heart is much lower than that in other organs. Finally, the International Union Against Cancer believes that 1/3 of cancers are preventable, 1/3 of cancers are curable if diagnosed early, and 1/3 of cancers can alleviate pain and prolong life. Therefore, in our daily lives, we must also maintain physical and mental health, actively exercise, eat a healthy diet, and avoid other types of cancer. |
