Who is the world's number one Go player?

Wu Qingyuan, a famous Go player, is known as the "Showa Go Saint". He was born on May 19, 1914 in a prominent family in Fuzhou, Fujian. Later, his family moved to Beijing. He showed extraordinary talent in Go at an early age. In his early years, he was known as a "Go prodigy" and went in and out of Duan Qirui's mansion and the Lai Jin Yuxuan chess table in Beijing Central Park (now Zhongshan Park). At the age of 14, he went to Japan and began his career as a professional Go player. In 1933, Wu Qingyuan, who was only 19 years old, used his own "new layout" to play against Honinbo Shusai, opening a new page in the history of Go. In the following 20 years, Wu swept through thousands of troops, surpassed his predecessors, and occupied the uncrowned throne of "the best in the world"; especially those "ten-game chess" that were described as "hand-to-hand combat on the cliff", fully demonstrated his extraordinary will and talent. In 1961, Wu was unfortunately involved in a car accident and gradually faded out of the first-line competitions. In his old age, Wu Qingyuan put more energy into supporting the younger generation, promoting the internationalization of Go and the development of Chinese Go. Most surprisingly, he integrated the ancient Chinese culture with his lifelong experience and proposed the 21st century Go, Liuhe Go. In Japan, he defeated all the Japanese masters and was hailed as the best player in ancient and modern times!

When was Go invented?

Go, which was called Yi in ancient my country, can be said to be the ancestor of chess among all ancient chess games. It is said to have a history of more than 4,000 years. According to "Shiben", Go was created by Yao. Zhang Hua of the Jin Dynasty also said in "Bowuzhi": "Shun thought that his son Shangjun was stupid, so he invented Go to teach him." Shun is a legendary figure, and the saying that he invented Go is not credible, but it reflects the early origin of Go. In addition, Pi Rixiu of the Tang Dynasty believed in his article "Yuan Yi" that Go originated in the Warring States Period and was created by the strategists. Go is "a way of harmful fraud and falsehood"! Each chess piece represents a city, the chessboard represents the land, and the lines between the chess pieces represent the official roads. The whole Go is a strategic chess game between two countries for land. It was a necessary intellectual quality for strategists in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Many pottery jars from the late primitive society unearthed in Yuanyangchi, Yongchang County, Gansu Province are painted with black, red or even colorful striped patterns with even lines. The crisscross pattern is very similar to the modern Go board, but there are only ten to twelve vertical and horizontal lines, not nineteen as there are now. Archaeologists call it a chessboard pattern.
