Are people who often get angry more likely to get cancer? Doctor: Why are cancer patients prone to getting angry?

Many cancer patients have asked me: "Doctor, I get easily irritated. Is there any connection between getting irritated and cancer?" As a doctor who often gets irritated, I think there are many friends who have this question. So let's talk today about whether there is any connection between getting irritated and cancer.

What is "getting angry"? The term "getting angry" is well known to everyone. I remember when I was a child, no matter where I felt uncomfortable, my family would tell me that I was "getting angry". Because I was weak and often felt uncomfortable when I was a child, I was simply labeled as "getting angry".

Later, when I studied medicine, I found that there is no term "getting angry" in clinical practice. In other words, there is no clear definition of "getting angry", but if we summarize what our elders mean by "getting angry", we seem to be able to find the corresponding relationship in clinical practice.

The "easy to get angry" mentioned by the elders is nothing more than the following manifestations:

1. Blisters and sores at the corners of the mouth

2. Digestive system disorders, constipation

3. Nosebleed

4. Oral ulcers

Let's take a look at the clinical significance of the above manifestations

●Blisters and sores at the corners of the mouth

Sore corners of the mouth are actually a sign of decreased immunity. There is a virus called herpes simplex virus type VI, the replication of which can cause herpes around the mouth.

Many people carry this herpes virus in daily life. When they stay up late for a long time, have irregular diet and rest, and their immunity is reduced, the virus will replicate rapidly, causing herpes around the mouth, and then sores at the corners of the mouth. At this time, the elders will say, "You got irritated because of not eating and sleeping on time." In fact, it is caused by reduced immunity.

●Digestive system disorders leading to constipation

When people have bad eating habits, eat greasy food all day long, eat less vegetables, or sit for a long time without exercise, constipation often occurs. At this time, the elders will say: "I am too picky about vegetables and I get irritated." In fact, it is just constipation caused by an unreasonable diet structure.

Nosebleeds

When I was a child, I didn’t like to drink water and I often had nosebleeds. At this time, the elders would say, "You’re getting a sore throat because you don’t drink water." Clinically, we call it rupture and bleeding caused by dry nasal mucosa.

Oral ulcers

Many people are prone to oral ulcers after eating seafood, meat, and salty foods. At this time, the elders will say, "You ate something that easily causes inflammation." In fact, this is because hard and salty foods can easily damage our oral mucosa, thereby causing oral ulcers.

Through the above four points, you will find that what the elders call "getting angry" is actually caused by decreased immunity due to irregular diet and work and rest.

Is "getting angry" related to cancer? Since there is no such term as "getting angry" in clinical practice, we have no way of knowing the exact relationship between "getting angry" and cancer, but we can still analyze the relationship between "getting angry" and cancer through the manifestations of "getting angry".

Will "getting angry" make you more likely to get cancer? First of all, as mentioned above, many manifestations of "getting angry" are irregular diet and work and rest in daily life. Among them, decreased immunity will cause the immune system to fail to detect cancer cells in the body, thereby increasing the probability of cancer.

Secondly, many bad eating habits, such as long-term meat-based intake and lack of vegetable intake, will increase the burden on the digestive system and increase the incidence of gastrointestinal tumors.

Will you often get “angry” after suffering from cancer?

Many people feel "easy to get angry" after suffering from cancer. The symptoms we mentioned above are such as constipation, perioral herpes, nosebleeds, oral ulcers, etc. Many cancer patients will undergo surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Surgery itself is a trauma to the body. It is normal for immunity to drop temporarily after surgery, so it is also common to have perioral herpes at this time. Secondly, because of the need to stay in bed temporarily after surgery, the symptoms of constipation will be aggravated in some people.

Secondly, if systemic chemotherapy is performed, gastrointestinal reactions caused by chemotherapy are often inevitable. The patient may experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, etc. If bone marrow suppression occurs and the white blood cell and platelet count decreases, the probability of oral ulcers and nosebleeds will also greatly increase. These are what the elders consider to be manifestations of "getting angry."

In order to prevent the occurrence of these "heat" symptoms, we must develop good eating and living habits, exercise appropriately, and improve our immunity, which can reduce the incidence of cancer. For cancer patients, we should strengthen dietary nutrition, drink plenty of water to accelerate the metabolism of chemotherapy drugs in the body, and resume regular eating and living habits as soon as possible to stay away from "heat".
