How do you know if the amniotic fluid is infected?

Pregnancy is both a difficult and a happy thing for women. The difficult part is to go through the arduous process of pregnancy for ten months, and the happy part is to create a baby in the belly and become a mother soon. What are the symptoms of broken amniotic fluid? What are the signs that the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman may infect the fetus? Let’s learn about it together.

What are the signs of amniotic fluid infection in pregnant women?

If too much amniotic fluid flows out and the baby has not yet been born, it will cause the baby to have difficulty breathing and asphyxiation. If the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman is dirty and directly contaminated, the baby will be infected, usually respiratory infection.

It is normal for water to break during labor. The incidence rate accounts for about 6%-12% of the number of pregnant women giving birth. Rupture of amniotic fluid often causes premature birth, fetal intrauterine hypoxia, fetal infection and other diseases.

When the fetus is in the mother's womb, it is surrounded by a layer of plastic film, which is the fetal membrane. There is liquid inside the fetal membrane, which is the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman. If the amniotic membrane is damaged and the pregnant woman loses amniotic fluid, it is called rupture of water, also known as broken amniotic fluid.

Generally speaking, normal delivery begins when the amniotic fluid breaks when the pregnant woman's cervix is dilated or when the cervix is closed and the fetus enters the birth canal. Therefore, in summary, rupture of amniotic fluid is an important sign of delivery. If you are in the middle or late stages of pregnancy and have not yet reached your due date, but you feel pain in your lower body and ice is leaking out of your vagina, then you may have early rupture of amniotic fluid. Relatives need to take pregnant women to the doctor for treatment in time to avoid accidents such as bacterial infection or umbilical cord prolapse, so as to avoid danger to the life of the fetus.

It should be noted that some other reasons can also cause rupture of amniotic fluid. For example, if the pregnant woman coughs violently, laughs suddenly, is extremely angry, or does heavy work, the abdominal pressure of the pregnant woman may increase suddenly, causing the fetal membrane to rupture and leading to premature rupture of amniotic fluid.

What are the symptoms of amniotic fluid rupture?

The rupture of amniotic fluid is an important sign of an upcoming delivery. So what does it feel like? Under normal circumstances, when the amniotic fluid ruptures, there will be vaginal discharge, usually a colorless liquid. The feeling of rupture of amniotic fluid is that a transparent liquid is suddenly discharged from the vagina, and the amount is larger than secretions, like water.

The amniotic fluid and urine of a normal pregnant woman look similar and are very clear. If the amniotic fluid breaks, it will flow out uncontrollably. The amniotic fluid of pregnant women is colorless and odorless. When the amniotic fluid of a pregnant woman is discharged, if the amount is large, there will be a feeling of damp heat, and it is relatively clear, which cannot be controlled by human factors. When the amount is small, you will always feel a little wet, like urine, but it is not under your control and is persistent.

What are the symptoms of amniotic fluid rupture?

If you feel ice coming out of your vagina before the pain occurs, it may be early rupture of amniotic fluid. You should go to the hospital for a physical examination and receive timely treatment, otherwise it may cause bacterial infection or the umbilical cord of the fetus may fall into the female vagina (umbilical cord prolapse) and cause the death of the fetus. However, the amount of secretions in the vagina will increase in the later stages of pregnancy, which does not necessarily mean that the amniotic fluid has broken. Generally, when the amniotic fluid breaks, you will feel a sudden flow of water from the vagina. When the fetal head lowers and blocks the cervical opening, the flow of water will decrease, but some water will continue to flow out as the pregnant woman moves. Therefore, it is best to go to the hospital for a doctor to check. If the amniotic fluid is indeed broken, you can't wait any longer and you must be hospitalized for delivery. After the amniotic fluid breaks, it is recommended that relatives lift the pregnant woman's buttocks and send her to the outpatient clinic of the hospital where she gave birth as soon as possible.
