On July 22, a basketball game was being held at a basketball court in Jiaxing City. Suddenly, a player wearing a white jersey fell to the ground! Everyone tried to wake him up, but they couldn't. Someone at the scene quickly performed CPR, and someone called 120. After CPR, the man didn't wake up. After the 120 ambulance arrived, the man was sent to the hospital, and it was later determined that the rescue was ineffective and he died. Later we learned that the man had just gotten married and was a prospective father, only 27 years old. His sister and mother were watching him play basketball at the time. The incident happened so suddenly that his mother and sister watched him leave and collapsed on the spot. In recent years, we have heard news about the sudden death of young people from time to time. I remember the news that artist Gao Yixiang died suddenly while recording a program last year. Not long after the news died down, we heard the sad news that a 27-year-old expectant father died suddenly while playing basketball. 1. How to reduce the risk of sudden death Sudden death is an unexpected and unpredictable death caused by a potential disease in the body that has not been discovered or taken seriously. The vast majority of sudden death patients die of cardiac arrest, about 80% of them are sudden deaths due to coronary heart disease, and some are sudden deaths due to arrhythmia. In addition to sudden cardiac death, there are also sudden deaths such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, pulmonary embolism, etc. Every year, 1.8 million people die of sudden death in my country, and an average of 3 to 4 people die of sudden death every minute. Very few sudden deaths are caused by congenital diseases that have not been discovered. Most sudden deaths, especially those caused by cardiovascular diseases, are closely related to our lifestyle. These lifestyle factors increase your risk of sudden death: 1. Staying up late: Most young people have the habit of staying up late. Studies show that people who stay up late for a long time have more than double the risk of sudden death than those who do not stay up late. If you sleep less than 4 hours a day, the mortality rate is 180% higher. 2. Sitting for long periods of time: The risk of death associated with long periods of sitting is five times higher than that of the subjects who exercise most frequently, and nearly four times higher than that of the subjects who exercise regularly. 3. Negativity: Bad mood, maliciousness, loneliness, mental stress and other reasons will lead to an increase in mortality rate. 4. Obesity: Obesity increases the risk of three highs and cardiovascular diseases. 23% of ischemic heart disease is caused by obesity. 5. Tobacco and alcohol: The incidence of coronary heart disease in long-term smokers increases by 3-4 times, and the mortality rate of long-term alcohol abuse is significantly higher than that of non-drinkers. 6. Diet: The number of deaths from cardiovascular diseases worldwide in 2017 caused by unhealthy diets such as high salt, low whole grains, low fruits, high oil and high sugar is as high as 8 million. These unhealthy lifestyles will increase the risk of sudden death, so we should try to avoid them in our lives to reduce the risk of sudden death. 2. What to pay attention to when doing summer sports 1. Exercise should be done in moderation. Choose exercises that suit your endurance and ability. Do not exercise vigorously and do not exceed your ability. 2. It is recommended that most people proceed step by step, gradually increase the amount of exercise, do what they can, and avoid long periods of time or sudden bursts of exercise. 3. Focus on aerobic exercise, that is, low-intensity or moderate-intensity, less confrontational exercise, such as running, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, mountain climbing, etc. The heart rate should not be too fast and should be controlled within the range of 170-your age. 4. Young people with good physical fitness and basic skills can engage in confrontational sports, but they must warm up well and stop immediately if they feel uncomfortable. 5. When exercising in the summer, be careful not to exercise when the temperature is highest and do not exercise in a stuffy environment. You can get up early or exercise at night. When exercising, pay attention to replenishing water and electrolytes, because after sweating a lot, the body will not only lack water, but also lose electrolytes, causing dehydration or electrolyte imbalance, especially low potassium can lead to malignant arrhythmias and directly lead to sudden death. 3. How to be saved in the face of sudden death If our heart stops for more than 3-5 seconds, we will feel dizzy, black out, unstable, and even faint and fall. If the heart stops for more than 8-10 seconds, we will lose consciousness and become incontinent. If the heart stops for more than 1 minute, the brain will stop working, the pupils will dilate, various nerve reflexes will disappear, and breathing will stop. If cardiopulmonary resuscitation is not performed immediately at this time, there will be only one result, and that is death. The brain cannot be ischemic or hypoxic for more than 4 minutes, or longer, otherwise it will lead to brain death. At this time, even if the heartbeat is restored, consciousness cannot be restored. In the event of sudden death, what you need to do at the same time is to call 120 and start cardiopulmonary resuscitation. If there is an automatic defibrillator, use it first to perform automatic defibrillation. However, most places currently do not have automatic defibrillators, so cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the only possible way to save lives. |
