The cause of death of Pang Tong in Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Pang Tong: Born in 179, died in 214, courtesy name Shiyuan, alias Fengchu, from Xiangyang, Jingzhou during the Han Dynasty, now Xiangyang, Hubei. During the Three Kingdoms period, he was an important counselor of Liu Bei, as talented as Zhuge Liang, and was appointed General of the Army. When he was besieging Luo County, he led the people to attack the city, but was unfortunately killed by a stray arrow at the age of 36. Liu Bei was extremely sad, and posthumously granted Tong the title of Guannei Hou, and the posthumous name of Jinghou. He personally selected a cemetery for Pang Tong, and later the place where he was buried was named Luofengpo. There is a national key cultural relic protection unit at Baima Pass, Lutou Mountain, west of Luojiang County, Deyang City, Sichuan Province: Pang Tong's ancestral tomb.

Where did Pang Tong die in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms?

Pang Tong, courtesy name Shiyuan, was a native of Xiangyang, Jingzhou during the Three Kingdoms period. He was known as Mr. Fengchu and was as famous as Zhuge Liang, the Sleeping Dragon. In the 19th year of Jian'an, he attacked Luocheng and fought for the important land of Shu. He was shot dead by Zhang Ren, an ambush of Liu Zhang of Shu, at Luofengpo. How did Zhou Yu die in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms?

In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the author, for the sake of literary and artistic needs, described Zhou Yu as a character who fought openly and secretly with Zhuge Liang, and was eventually angered to death by Zhuge Liang. This left behind the story of how Kong Ming angered Zhou Yu three times, and Zhou Yu was so angry that he screamed on his horse, his arrow wound split open again, and he fell off his horse. Before he died, he looked up to the sky and sighed: "Since I was born, why was Liang born!" This is a story in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which is fictional in the novel. In order to beautify Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu was deliberately belittled. This did not happen in official history, and Zhou Yu was also very magnanimous, which was completely different from the description in the novel.

Historical facts: After the Battle of Chibi, Zhou Yu proposed to Sun Quan to put Liu Bei under house arrest and directly manage the military subordinates of Liu Bei's camp, but Sun Quan disagreed. In 210 AD, Sun Quan approved Zhou Yu's plan to conquer West Shu, but Zhou Yu fell seriously ill on his way back to Jiangling, his garrison, and eventually died in Baqiu at the age of 36. Sun Quan personally put on mourning clothes to mourn for Zhou Yu, which moved everyone around him. When Zhou Yu's coffin was transported back to Wujun, Sun Quan went to Wuhu to welcome it in person, and all funeral expenses were paid by the state.
