Tibetan athletes take part in Winter Olympics for the first time

Yong Qinglam is 18 years old and was born in Zogong County, Qamdo City, Tibet Autonomous Region. Since being selected for the national snowboard training team in August 2018, she has made rapid progress and won the second and third place in the obstacle pursuit of the Argentina National Youth Competition and the seventh place in the obstacle pursuit of the French FIS Points Competition.

Tsering Zhandui, also 18 years old, is from Burang County, Nagqu City, Tibet Autonomous Region. He was selected for the Tibet Ski Mountaineering Training Team in December 2017, the National Ski Mountaineering Training Team in October 2019, and the National Cross-Country Skiing Training Team in June of the following year.

In addition, three Tibetan athletes, Nima Yongqing, Tenzin Wangdui and Rejie, were selected to undertake technical support work for the Winter Olympic projects, which is also the first time in history.
