How much urea should be used per acre for wheat spraying? When can wheat be sprayed with urea?

Wheat is one of the three major food crops in my country, especially in the north where wheat flour is the main food source. Therefore, the wheat planting area in my country is very large, second only to the European Community in terms of wheat planting area in the world. Urea is an efficient and stable high-nitrogen fertilizer that can be used as both base and topdressing. It is the first choice especially for wheat.

How much urea should be used per acre for wheat spraying?

The appropriate concentration for wheat spraying is 1%. One sprayer is needed for each acre of land. The sprayer generally holds 15 kg of water and requires 150 g of urea, that is, 150 g of urea is appropriate for each acre of land.

Generally, after wheat turns green, urea is applied with water at a rate of 30-50 catties per mu. In special circumstances, 0.3% urea aqueous solution can be sprayed. Special circumstances refer to spraying when the wheat seedlings are not in good condition 7-10 days after urea application. Otherwise, there is no need to spray urea on the leaves.

Urea is a macronutrient with a nitrogen content of 46%. It is generally used for topdressing and can also be applied at a low level. If spraying on the leaves, it is recommended that the dosage should not exceed 200 grams per 30 kg bucket of water. Because urea contains biuret, it will burn the leaves when used in large quantities, especially when the temperature is high. Therefore, spraying urea should generally be avoided during the high temperature at noon, and it is better to spray after 17:00 in the afternoon. It is also not advisable to use too little, at least 100 grams per bucket of water, otherwise the effect will not be good.

When can urea be sprayed on wheat?

The time points for spraying urea on wheat are mainly concentrated after the jointing stage, the flowering stage and the grain filling stage. In the seedling stage, it can be added in appropriate amounts according to the growth of wheat. Because wheat plants grow relatively high in these two stages, it is difficult to apply fertilizer manually, so spraying urea aqueous solution when spraying "one spray and three preventions" or spraying urea alone can greatly help improve the quality and yield of wheat.

What should be paid attention to when spraying urea on wheat

When spraying urea on wheat, it is obvious that it directly acts on the part of the wheat stem and leaves where the roots emerge from the soil. Therefore, it is necessary to make a distinction. The urea applied as base fertilizer acts on the growth and germination of wheat; the urea applied as topdressing during the growth period first acts on the roots of wheat, and after being absorbed by the roots, it is transmitted to the entire wheat plant for growth. Foliar fertilizer spraying acts on the stems and leaves.

The urea spraying concentration is 1%-1.5%. In the early and middle stages of crop growth, the urea spraying concentration is 0.5%-1%, and the spraying concentration in the seedling stage is 0.2%. For gramineous crops such as rice and wheat, the urea spraying concentration can be 1.5%-2%. However, when spraying on the leaves, avoid using too high a concentration of urea solution, otherwise it will burn the leaves and poison the plants. Usually, the spraying concentration for wheat and corn is 2%, and for vegetables and melons, it is appropriate to use 0.5%-1.5%.
