Why doesn't the succulent plant Jade Dew grow roots? How to solve the problem of Jade Dew having no roots

With the improvement of living standards, many people will grow one or two pots of plants at home, and the succulent jade plant is deeply loved by people because it does not take up space and has beautiful appearance. So why does the succulent jade plant not grow roots? How to solve the problem of jade plant not having roots? Let's take a look.

Why does the jade plant not grow roots?

1. Variety issues

Some varieties of Jade Plant take very long to take root, such as Sun Moon Lake Plant. Some friends took half a year to successfully take root and adapt to the pot, while others took 3-4 months. If the Jade Plant you have is a variety like Sun Moon Lake Plant that takes a long time to take root, then you can only wait slowly. Maybe one day it will figure it out and grow roots on its own.

2. No root pruning after potting

The roots of newly purchased jade plants have dried up after being removed from the soil and transported over long distances. Before potting, the roots must be trimmed, disinfected, and aired, and then potted after the root wounds are completely healed. If you pot directly without trimming the roots, the jade plants will not be able to grow new roots, and the dried roots may rot in the soil.

3. Often pull out and watch

Some friends are impatient when raising succulents, and they are impatient. They get anxious just a few days after the succulents are potted. Why haven't they adapted to the pot yet? Why? What? They can't wait! So they pull them out to take a look, and find that they haven't taken root, so they plant them back. This repeats, and of course the succulents can't take root normally.

4. Inappropriate media

If the jade plant does not take root for a long time, the planting medium may not be suitable, such as too much peat soil or too high a proportion of particles, etc. It is recommended that you try changing to pure vermiculite. Pure vermiculite particles are considered a magic tool for the rooting of succulents, and can increase the success rate of succulent rooting even in summer.

5. The environment is not ventilated

Whether it is other succulents or jade plants, they have very high requirements for the ventilation of the environment, especially during the acclimatization period. If the maintenance environment is poorly ventilated, the jade plants may not take root normally and may also cause their roots to mold and rot. Therefore, they must be placed in a particularly ventilated place during the acclimatization period.

How to solve the problem of Yulu having no roots

1. The leaf disc is intact, but the root system is rotten

①. Leaf disc cuttings: Plant the leaf discs in sandy seedling soil and keep the soil slightly moist. If there is no further rot, small white roots will grow again in about 20 days. Transplant after the root system is strong.

② Hydroponic root induction: Cultivate the treated leaf discs hydroponically, using the natural evaporation of water to create a humid microenvironment to induce the growth of aerial roots in the leaf discs. When the aerial roots reach a certain length and number, they can be switched to soil cultivation.

③. Tissue culture to induce rooting: The principle of tissue culture is similar to that of hydroponics, except that tissue culture takes tissues, lateral buds and leaf discs, and uses a sterile and humid environment to induce root sprouting. When a certain number is reached, the roots can be planted in pots.

2. The leaf disk has also rotted, leaving only the leaves

In this case, the only option left is leaf cuttings. Leaf cuttings of Jade Dew are more difficult than those of ordinary succulents, and the survival rate is also lower, because Jade Dew is a soft-leaf succulent plant, and the leaves themselves are thick and easy to dissolve in water. Select healthy, complete leaves with growth points, and lay them flat on the seedling soil with the front facing up, keeping the soil slightly moist. Leaves that are not dry and dissolved in water will slowly take root and sprout.

What to do if jade dew is frostbitten

If the succulent plant is only frozen for a short time or has only slight frostbite, it can recover. If it is frozen into ice or all the leaves are soft, it is generally hopeless and should be thrown aside to fend for itself. If it is slightly frostbitten, do not take it to a hot place all at once. It cannot stand the big temperature difference. It needs to be treated gradually. First put it in a cool corner indoors and wait for half a day or a day for it to slowly adapt to the indoor temperature before taking it to a hot place on the balcony.
