Why is the water not fertile when raising shrimp?

Insufficient basal fertilizer: This situation is very common in newly dug ponds, because there is little organic matter in the pond or the amount of basal fertilizer is insufficient. At this time, due to insufficient nutrients in the water, the plankton in the water will reproduce very slowly, or it will not be fertilized at all. In this case, you can use some inorganic fertilizers as topdressing in the pond or directly use fertilizer paste, but do not use them in excess. It is best to use small amounts and multiple times, otherwise the water quality will easily become over-fertilized and other problems will arise.

Low water temperature: When the water temperature is low, the plankton in the water will reproduce very slowly. At this time, the water body will be very transparent and it will look like the water body is very thin. In this case, you must first confirm the bottom quality of the pond. If the bottom quality is shallow and the pond is generally thin, you can use topdressing. If it is a pond with deep mud, there is no need to rush. As long as there is no moss in the water, wait until the water temperature rises. At that time, you can confirm whether to use fertilizer based on the changes in the water body.

Too many zooplankton in the water: This is very common in the early stage of aquaculture. If there are too many zooplankton in the water, the water will become clear in a few days even if it is rich. In fact, in the morning and evening or in hot and humid weather, you can see groups of small aquatic animals in the water. It is because these animals eat the algae in the water that the water transparency is high and the water quality is thin. In this case, we can use medicine to kill some of these zooplankton, or reduce the amount of feeding and let the shrimp eat it themselves.

What is the relationship between shrimp seed selection and stocking time?

The time points for planting seedlings are generally early spring seedlings, late spring seedlings, autumn seedlings, etc.

Shrimp fry should be free of disease and injury, healthy, with complete appendages, normal body color, and sensitive to external stimuli. Generally, it is advisable to purchase them nearby. For short transportation distances, green shrimp or maqing shrimp are preferred. For long-distance transportation, red shrimp or larger green shrimp are better. The earlier the shrimp fry is released, the smaller the size of the shrimp will be, and the higher the doubling rate will be. The price is relatively expensive, but the benefits are good. This is the early spring fry.

The selection of late spring seedlings is usually in May, which is usually the peak period of disease. Problems are likely to occur, causing unnecessary losses. Under normal circumstances, the seedlings in one's own pond are sufficient, and there are even surpluses to sell or transfer to other ponds.
