Car wax is one of the products for car beauty. It can penetrate into the gaps in the car paint, making the car body surface look bright, and also has a certain protective effect on the car paint. So what kind of car wax should be used on a new car?

What kind of car wax should be used on new cars

According to their uses, car wax is generally divided into four types.

1. Mainly emphasize the gloss of car paint. After waxing, the car paint surface is bright, such as platinum wax and mercerized wax. Mercerized wax has no polishing function, does not damage the car paint, is suitable for new cars, and is cheap. Platinum wax has a slight polishing function, and the car will be extremely shiny after being applied, but it is not suitable for new cars that have been used for less than half a year.

Second, you need a strong protection and long-lasting effect on your car. Hard shell wax and extreme wax are examples of this type. This type of wax has a strong protective effect on car paint, especially extreme wax, which can effectively prevent damage from rain, dust, and sunlight radiation. The protection time can be as long as half a year, which is very suitable for car owners who park and move outdoors for a long time.

3. There are also some waxes that are between the first two, that is, they need to have a bright finish and also provide good protection for your car. This type includes water-grade extreme wax and ice wax.

Fourth, there are also special waxes for different problems with car paint. For example, scratch wax, decontamination wax, etc. For stains that are difficult to remove, such as asphalt, tar, bird droppings, etc., it is natural to choose decontamination wax that can easily remove them. If the car paint is oxidized and there are minor scratches, of course, use scratch wax.

Is it good to wax a new car? Will it damage the paint?

Wax first protects the car paint: rainproof, acidproof, UV protection, etc., and then adds gloss. New cars need protection from the first day, so they need waxing. New car paint plus clear paint, it also plays a protective role. For the color paint layer, the clear paint plays a protective role.

New cars can be waxed, but polishing and waxing are not recommended, because the original paint of the car generally has four layers, from the inside to the outside, they are electrophoretic layer, midcoat layer, color paint layer, and varnish layer. The outermost varnish layer is to increase the brightness of the paint and protect the color paint layer. Polishing is actually to grind off the outermost varnish layer with small scratches. Therefore, each time you polish, the paint surface will become thinner.

For general family cars, the thickness of the varnish layer is only about 35-45μm (micrometers). Under normal polishing operation techniques and the use of regular polishing agents, the thickness of the paint lost each time is about 2-3μm. If the polisher uses too much force or polishes the same part for too long, the thickness of the paint will be lost even more. Therefore, the thickness of the original varnish layer of the car can only be polished ten times, and each polishing will reduce it.

What kind of car wax should I use on a black car?

For dark car paint such as black, it is recommended to use black, red, and green series car wax, and for light-colored car paint, use silver, white, and pearl series car wax.

In addition, you should also consider the role of car wax, the age of the vehicle, the color of the paint and the driving environment. For example, you can choose high-end car wax for high-end cars; it is best to use anti-UV car wax in summer; when the driving environment is not good, use carbamate wax to protect the vehicle.
