Why don't car tires have inner tubes?

Bicycles, large trucks, etc. all have inner tube tires, but cars are basically vacuum tires without inner tubes, which can be directly inflated. So why don't car tires have inner tubes?

Car tires don't have inner tubes?

In the past, car tires still had inner tubes, but now there are basically no inner tubes, that is, vacuum tires. There are two types of radial tires and diagonal tires. This type of tire takes into account the functions of both ordinary outer tires and inner tubes. In some trucks and agricultural vehicles, because they have to carry heavy goods, they need to load the inner and outer tires with pressure, so the tires they use have inner tubes.

Why don't car tires have inner tubes?

In vacuum tires, since there is no inner tube, the change in the vehicle's speed when it is moving at high speed is very small, which can maintain good running stability and smaller friction, and can significantly improve the absorption of vibration and impact and vehicle speed.

Tubeless tires are thicker than ordinary tires with inner tubes. After inflation, the external tension increases, and there will be a certain pressure on the inner surface, which improves the self-sealing ability of the fracture. Once the tire is punctured by a sharp object, the gas in the tire will not be deflated instantly like ordinary tires, but will be maintained for a period of time, so that the vehicle is relatively safe even when driving at high speed. In addition, the comfort and stability are much better than ordinary tires.

What are the benefits of tubeless tires

More secure

The surface of the vacuum tire is a layer of rubber. When the external tension increases after inflation, a certain pressure will be formed on the inner surface, which improves the self-sealing ability of the fracture. Once punctured, it will not deflate immediately like a bicycle. If it is punctured by a nail or something like that, the vacuum tire can still run for 100 to 200 kilometers.

More wear-resistant

The diameter of the vacuum tire rim is larger than that of an ordinary wheel rim, and it will not be affected by the drum heat during braking when driving. Because there is no inner tube and bushing, the tire and wheel rim are sealed. When the vehicle is running at high speed, the high temperature caused by the friction between the tire and the road surface is directly dissipated through the internal steel rim, which can quickly reduce the tire temperature and thus extend the service life of the tire.

More fuel efficient and more comfortable

Especially for radial tires, because the crown angle is zero, the grip is strong. It can maintain good driving stability and small friction, which is beneficial to the vehicle's shock absorption and increase the speed. The belt speed layer is positioned higher, the wheel radial runout is small, and the resistance is small. Therefore, it has higher fuel efficiency.

Good sealing effect

The vacuum tire relies on the outer tire seal and the outer structure of the wheel hub to seal the gas inside the tire. This increases the service life of the vacuum tire, reduces wear, generates less heat at high speeds, and provides better heat dissipation. The structure is simpler than a tire with an inner tube.

In the past, tires were a combination of inner tube + outer tube + wheel. If they were punctured, they would leak air quickly. The inner tube could be removed when repairing the tire. It was cheap but not necessarily more durable than vacuum tires.
