How to make Clivia grow quickly

1. The growth temperature of Clivia seedlings should be controlled between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius, the most suitable is 18 to 20 degrees Celsius, and the maximum should not exceed 25 degrees Celsius. Too high a temperature will cause the plant to grow too tall and the leaves to appear thin and long. Therefore, strong seedlings can only be cultivated at a lower temperature.

2. When the seedlings are about to grow the second leaf, they need to be drought-hardened for 15 to 20 days, which will make the seedlings firm, with thick and shiny leaves. Water them every 2 to 3 days.

3. For topdressing during the seedling stage, some thin cake fertilizer water can be applied appropriately, once every 10 to 15 days. Water thoroughly once 3 to 4 hours after fertilization to promote the dissolution of nutrients and facilitate root absorption. If the soil is too alkaline, it is not conducive to the absorption of nutrients and affects the rapid growth of seedlings. You can change the soil or irrigate some ferrous sulfate solution to neutralize the alkaline components in the soil.

How to plant the newly bought Clivia seedlings

How to plant newly bought Clivia seedlings:

1. Flower pots: Prepare pots for planting flowers, preferably clay pots.

2. Flower soil: prepare special flower soil for Clivia, which should be fertile, loose and well-ventilated;

3. Planting: First, half-fill the drainage hole at the bottom of the flowerpot with a piece of broken pot, and then use another piece of broken pot to obliquely place it on the upper part of the previous piece, forming a "human" shape, so that the drainage hole can be "covered but not blocked, blocked but not dead". When it rains or watering too much, the excess water can flow out from the gaps in the broken pot pieces, avoiding the problem of water accumulation in the pot affecting the growth of flowers and trees. For Clivia and orchids with fleshy roots, the bottom of the pot should be padded with more broken pot pieces, coal slag, and broken tiles to increase drainage and ventilation capabilities. Put a few centimeters of flower soil in the pad or pit, put the flowers in, and then add soil and press it slightly;

4. Watering: Be sure to water thoroughly for the first time, until clear water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

5. Management: After the Clivia is potted, water it thoroughly once so that the soil in the pot can absorb all the water, and then place it in a shaded place outdoors for half a month. Do not fertilize. After the flower steps recover and adapt to the pot soil environment, you can move it to the sun and take normal care.

Can Clivia be grown directly in water?

When growing Clivia in water, first clean the roots, cut off broken roots, rotten roots and long roots, and then soak the roots in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution for 10 minutes for sterilization. After disinfection, move them into the prepared vase for planting. The water level should not exceed one-third of the root system. Too high a water level can easily cause root rot. When one-third of the roots are adapted to growing in water, aquatic roots that adapt to growth will grow, so that Clivia can grow normally in water.
