If we use a 20-meter-high tower as a reference and hope that the tower height and the diameter of the moon in the photo are the same, then the 20-meter-high tower must also have a 0.5-degree angle of view, which requires shooting the tower and the moon at a distance of 2 to 3 kilometers. But if it is just a 2-meter-high person standing on the roof, a shooting distance of about 250 meters is enough.

If you use a 600mm focal length lens to shoot here, its angle of view is about 4.2 degrees, which means that the diameter of the lunar surface occupies 1/8 of the long side of the photo. If you don't have such a long focal length lens, you can also use a short focal length such as 200mm focal length, but at this time the diameter of the lunar surface and the height of the tower will be only 1/24 of the long side of the photo, and you need to crop the center of the photo and enlarge it three times. Of course, if you use a high-pixel camera and a high-quality lens, this degree of enlargement is not a problem, it depends on personal choice.

How to take photos of the super moon

The truth about the supermoon can be divided into two situations, one is the moon alone, and the other is with the earth scene. For the moon alone, an 18-135mm lens can be used, with a small aperture, fixed on a tripod, and digital zoom (that is, enlargement and cropping) after shooting can meet the basic requirements. Of course, if your lens has a larger focal length of 200mm or even higher, shooting with a telephoto end (that is, optical zoom) will make the image of the moon larger and clearer, and the effect will be better after enlarging and cropping the original size. As long as it is a full moon, the supermoon will appear, and other moon phases can also be photographed.

If it is a supermoon with scenery, take a night view of the earth, enlarge the moon and superimpose it, and change the layer mode to Multiply. You can zoom in and out the moon at will. Another option is to use a telephoto lens. The earth view is very far away, so you can take a part of it or a close-up corner. However, the earth view is usually a silhouette, and the metering point is on the bright moon, and most people don't have that kind of telephoto lens!

A telephoto lens is usually necessary for taking photos of the supermoon, but most people don't have a 400mm fixed-focus lens or a 500mm fixed-focus lens. So we can use two cheaper methods as a substitute!
