Will the dashboard prompt when the car key is running out of battery? How to check the battery level of the car key?

Many car keys can open or lock the car door with just one press after a long time. This is because the car key has a battery installed in it, so the power will eventually run out. However, unlike mobile phones, car keys do not display the power in real time. So how do you check the power of a car key? Will there be a prompt on the dashboard if it is out of power?

Will the dashboard prompt me when the car key is running out of battery?

When the car key is running out of battery, there will definitely be some signs, such as a shorter usage distance and a keyless status indication on the instrument panel.

In some vehicles with one-button start, since the system needs to receive the signal transmitted by the key to achieve starting, when the key is running out of power, the instrument panel will inadvertently prompt something like "key cannot be found". Because when the power is low or running out, the strength of the transmitted signal is greatly reduced, and the system will intermittently receive the signal, so there will be a prompt on the instrument panel!

How to check the battery level of a car key

There are three ways to judge the power of a car key. Let me share them with you briefly:

1. The remote control distance is significantly shortened: The official remote control distance of a general car key is about 50M, and in actual operation it will fluctuate between 20-40M depending on the environment. If you find that the remote control distance of the key is getting shorter and shorter during use, it means that the battery is getting lower and lower.

2. Key button sensitivity: This basically occurs when the key is close to running out of power. Sometimes you use the remote control to unlock but sometimes it doesn't respond, or even requires you to press it a few more times before it responds. Of course, this problem can also occur when the key is faulty. It depends on how you judge it.

3. Some advanced models are equipped with a power detection function: This function generally appears in Class B cars and above. When the key battery is low or out of power, the driver will be prompted in the instrument panel inside the car. The prompt content is roughly: The key battery is low, please replace the key battery.

How to change the battery of a car key

First, you need to remove the car key. Some car keys have screws that need to be removed first, and then pry open the key cover. If there are no screws, you can pry it open directly.

After prying it open, you can see the button battery. Most car remote control keys use CR2032 button batteries. This specification is easy to understand. CR stands for lithium manganese button battery, voltage 3 volts, 2032 stands for battery diameter 20mm, thickness 3.2mm. Some cars are CR2020, which means the battery diameter is 20mm, thickness 2mm, very thin. The specific model is marked on the original car battery.
