How to choose ginger seeds and how to prepare the soil for ginger cultivation

The edible part of ginger is the rhizome. Ginger is an indispensable condiment in our lives. The spicy and stimulating taste of ginger has won praise from many "foodies". The price of ginger is also very high at present. Ginger with good appearance and good quality can even be sold for one yuan per catty. If ginger farmers want to get a good harvest, they need to cultivate ginger correctly. Let's learn it below!

How to choose ginger seeds for planting

First, we need to select the right ginger seeds. According to the different soil fertility conditions, the weight per mu is usually between 800 and 1000 grams. When selecting seeds, we should choose healthy, disease-free, neat and uniform ginger mother and ginger seeds.

2. Cultivate strong buds. 20 to 30 days before sleeping in Jiangbo, take out the ginger seeds from the storage cellar, wash the dirt on the ginger, spread it on the grass, or expose it to the sun on the clean ground for 2 days. Tighten the room at night to prevent cold. The fast temperature will break the dormancy, promote the differentiation of nutrients in the body, and speed up the germination of ginger.

How to prepare the soil for ginger

Choose a plot of land with higher terrain, fertile soil, and easy watering, which is free of ginger blight. Plow the soil in winter and spring. Combine land preparation with applying 1,500 kg of fully fermented chicken manure, 10 kg of urea, 50 kg of superphosphate, and 15 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. When planting, use 1,000 times the dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane solution per mu to disinfect the soil.

How to sow ginger

Neutral or slightly acidic soil is best for planting. Ginger is not suitable for continuous cropping, but can be rotated with rice, melons and beans for more than 3 years before planting.

When planting, dig a 10CM deep planting furrow, plant 2 rows per bed, keep the row spacing at 10-15CM, and the plant spacing at 20-25CM. When planting, it is best to arrange the ginger buds in the same direction to facilitate the recovery of the ginger seeds later. After sowing the seeds, cover them with 2-3CM of soil. Before covering the film, it is best to spray herbicides with water to prevent weeds from growing under the film. Of course, you can also choose black film without spraying herbicides.
