Why is it that Amaryllis becomes less and less as you grow it? How to remedy the problem of Amaryllis becoming less and less as you grow it?

Amaryllis is a common flower in China. It is loved by people because of its gorgeous flowers and strong fragrance. So why is it that the more you grow Amaryllis, the less it grows? How to remedy the problem? The following editor will explain them one by one, hoping to help you.

Why Amaryllis becomes less and less as I grow it

1. Light requirements: When the temperature is high in summer, the sunlight is strong. It does not like too strong sunlight and needs proper shade. It grows best when the indoor temperature is 25°C. Strong light will cause yellow leaves and the growth rate will slow down.

2. Watering requirements: It likes moist soil, but is afraid of waterlogging and suffocating the roots. If there is too much water, its fibrous roots will die. Watering should not be too frequent or too lazy. Just keep the soil moist every day. Use airtight plastic pots or porcelain pots and water them less thoroughly.

3. Fertilization requirements: Its root ball needs fertilizer to expand. If you want it to grow faster and have more roots, you must ensure fertility. In addition to adding agricultural fertilizer when changing the soil every year, it is best to soak some fertilizer water with cake residue and water it once or twice a month. This can ensure that the flowers are large and colorful, and the root ball produces many bulbs.

How to remedy the problem of Amaryllis becoming less and less

1. Repotting. Amaryllis grows fast, and after one year of growth, it should be replaced with an appropriate flowerpot.

2. Change the soil. After one or two years of planting, the soil in the pot of Amaryllis lacks fertilizer. In order to promote growth and flowering in the new year, new soil should be used.

3. Division. Amaryllis grows fast. After 1 or 2 years of growth, many small bulbs grow on the head, so division is carried out at the same time as repotting and changing soil.

How to grow Amaryllis quickly

Planting amaryllis is usually done before the Qingming Festival. Choose a suitable flowerpot, but not too big, otherwise the soil in the pot will be too wet and the roots will rot easily. A layer of coarse sand is placed at the bottom of the pot to facilitate drainage. Use loose, fertile sandy soil for cultivation, and 1/3 of the bulb should be exposed to the soil surface. Water it after planting and place it in a semi-shaded place for maintenance. Amaryllis likes fertilizer. When the leaves grow to 5-6 cm long, start topdressing. Generally, apply decomposed cake fertilizer water once every half a month, and once every 20 days or so after flowering to promote the enlargement of the bulb and the production of new bulbs. Watering should be gradually increased as the plant grows, but when it blooms, the water requirement is the highest, so keep the soil moist. After flowering, the amount of watering should be gradually reduced. In the hot season from July to August, the plant's growth is weak, so the amount of watering should be controlled.

Yellow spots often appear on the tips of Amaryllis leaves in summer and gradually spread. There are two main reasons for this disease: first, the potting soil is often too wet due to excessive exposure to the sun; second, the application of unfermented "raw fertilizer".

After the Descent of Frost, when the leaves of Amaryllis gradually turn yellow, remove the bulbs from the potting soil, shake off the soil at the roots, cut off the remaining roots and leaves, dry them in a dry and ventilated place, then store the bulbs in a dry place indoors, maintaining the room temperature between 5 and 10 degrees. Wait until early April of the following year, take out the bulbs and plant them in pots again.

The propagation of amaryllis in potted plants at home is generally divided into bulbs, that is, the bulbs grown from the mother plant are divided and planted separately. The bulb division can be done at any time except winter. The requirements for planting the bulbs are the same as those for the mother plant.
