Why do gardenias have root rot?

Root rot of gardenia is mostly caused by over-watering during daily maintenance. Too much watering causes the soil to become severely compacted and lack permeability. If the place where the gardenia is stored has no light and poor ventilation, the root rot of the gardenia will soon occur.

How to deal with gardenia root rot?

1. Remove the pot

Soak the gardenia soil ball in water for more than ten minutes and then flush the soil ball with water. Prune off rotten roots, dead roots, and intertwined roots. Comb the healthy roots in an orderly manner without crossing. Prune off the overly long branches, axillary branches, whorled branches, and crossed branches on the branches. Reduce the energy consumption of the plant after repotting.

2. Planting

When planting the pruned gardenia, prepare the soil separately, using a mixture of one-third of farmland soil, leaf mold, and rock gravel. The soil is loose and breathable, does not accumulate water, and is slightly acidic, which is what gardenias like.

3. Management

Place the gardenia in a well-ventilated location with diffused light, and water the roots regularly. When watering in the later stage, observe the dryness and wetness of the pot soil, and water thoroughly if it is not dry. Use a spray to wet the branches and leaves, replenish the branches with water, and create a humid environment.
