If you cannot finish the steamed hairy crabs in a short time, you need to put them in a cool and ventilated place. When you eat them next time, you must reheat them and make sure they are fully heated before eating.

In fact, the best way is to buy as much as you can eat, and steam and eat it now. The fresh and energetic hairy crabs, just steamed, the hot and fragrant taste is definitely the best!

Raw crab

If you buy too many crabs at once, store them raw in the refrigerator. This storage can keep the crabs alive for several days.

Place the crab in the refrigerator and place a damp towel over it. The towel should be about as damp as we would wipe our face, not so damp that it drips.

When eating crabs, give priority to those that are not energetic enough to eat and those that are energetic enough to stay fresh for a few days.

The way to judge the vitality of the hairy crab is to touch its eyes. If the crab's eyes can move and blink flexibly, it means that it is still full of vitality.

Preserved in this way, the crab will not die within a few days, but it will inevitably become thinner, affecting the taste. The more you eat, the better. Fresh and vibrant hairy crabs taste the best.

Note that dead hairy crabs cannot be eaten. After death, hairy crabs will quickly decompose and produce histamine, a toxic substance that cannot be eliminated even at high temperatures and is harmful to the human body.

If you need to store hairy crabs for a long time, you can only put them in the freezer of the refrigerator. Freeze them while they are still alive, and they can be stored for 1-2 months.

When thawing, you can prepare a basin of water, put some salt in the water, and then put the frozen hairy crabs in to thaw, which can speed up the thawing speed and kill bacteria. Cook and eat immediately after thawing, and do not let the crabs come into contact with the air for a long time to produce bacteria.

Remember, frozen hairy crabs must be cooked before eating, and cannot be eaten raw in ways such as making drunken crabs.

If conditions permit, it is best not to put crabs in the freezer, because after freezing, the crabs will not only affect the taste, but also have a strong fishy smell. Therefore, it is recommended to buy and eat hairy crabs immediately, so as not to waste the delicious taste of the crabs.

If the crab roe is bright, the sides of the crab's belly button will generally show red, which is often called a red mark. Third, look at the chelicerae, which are the two claws in front of the crab. If there are a lot of hairs on the chelicerae, the chelicerae are old and strong; if there are no hairs on the chelicerae, the crab is soft and weak.

You can check the maturity of the crab meat by pinching the crab claws with your fingers. For fully mature crabs that have molted, the claws are generally hard and firm, while for crabs that are not fully mature, the claws are generally softer.

The navel of a male crab is triangular, while the navel of a female crab is oval.
