Can I breastfeed if I have a fever?

Pregnant women are in very weak physical condition after giving birth, so their nutrition and all aspects need to be paid attention to. The diet of pregnant women is also very important. They should avoid eating spicy, cold, irritating, fried, greasy or hot foods. So can I breastfeed if I have a slight fever?

You can breastfeed if you have a low fever during breastfeeding, but stop if the temperature exceeds 37.7 degrees Celsius. If you have a low fever, try to take medicine after breastfeeding.

The medicines prescribed by doctors in regular hospitals when they learn that you are breastfeeding should be safe to take. Drink more warm water and do not stop breastfeeding. Don't be afraid even if the fever has not subsided. You can breastfeed your baby when you have a low fever, but it is not good to have a high fever.

If the symptoms of a cold are mild, no special treatment is required and they can be cured. If there are severe symptoms such as cough and fever, you need to take medicine under the guidance of a doctor. Generally, antiviral puree, oil, Xiao Chaihu granules, penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics can be used for treatment. Wear a mask when breastfeeding; breastfeed before taking the medicine, and stop breastfeeding within 4-6 hours after taking the medicine to avoid the peak concentration of the drug in the blood;

When a baby has a fever, if the body temperature is ≥38℃, breastfeeding should be temporarily stopped, and breast milk should be expressed more than 3 times a day to maintain breast milk secretion. Keep the baby's home ventilated to reduce the concentration of cold viruses in the air; if necessary, let the baby temporarily leave the bedroom, use 1-2 pounds of vinegar at a 1:1 ratio and add water to boil, and seal and disinfect the room for 4-6 hours.

If a breastfeeding mother undergoes drug injection treatment, she needs to stop breastfeeding for a few days.

After giving birth, you should increase your nutrition and increase your immunity. Eating more millet, eggs, fish head soup, bone soup, pig's trotter soup and other milk-producing foods are good for the body and the baby. Pregnant women should avoid getting angry or getting irritated, as this may cause illness, so they should maintain a happy mood.
