Wash your hands with cold water during confinement in summer

We all know that pregnant women will go through the confinement period after giving birth. During this period, female friends are very sensitive, and many symptoms are likely to appear in this period. Because the mothers’ own resistance is relatively poor during this period, they need to pay attention to many things in their daily life to avoid the occurrence of some symptoms. So, can I wash my hands with cold water during confinement in summer?

Can I use cold water to wash my hands and disinfect them during confinement in summer?

First, can you wash your hands with cold water during the summer confinement period? Traditionally, people call the month after childbirth "confinement period", but in fact, after a month of adjustment, many internal organs of the body have not yet fully recovered. For example, it takes 6 weeks for the uterus to shrink and repair to a size close to that of a non-pregnant uterus, and it also takes 6 weeks to completely reshape and repair the endometrium at the site of embryo adhesion. It also takes 6 to 8 weeks to repair abdominal tension after delivery. If pregnant women exercise too much during this period, they may easily suffer from symptoms such as uterine prolapse.

Second, it is traditionally believed that women should not take a bath or wash their hair during the confinement period, for fear of catching a cold and causing problems. In fact, this kind of control is unreasonable. During the confinement period, pregnant women's private parts need more substances, so they should wash the vulva with warm water every day. Wash vulvar pads frequently and keep the perineum clean and dry. The lochia of the mother will clear up in about 4 to 6 weeks after delivery. Generally, you can take a bath and wash your hair one week after delivery, but try to stick to sponge baths and avoid tub baths to prevent the dirty water used for bathing from entering the urinary system and causing infection. You can take a shower after 6 weeks. The room should be ventilated regularly and the indoor temperature should not be too high or fluctuate. In the past, there was a common saying that doors and windows should be closed tightly, and pregnant women must cover themselves with thick quilts at all times. This is very dangerous, especially in summer, as it can easily cause heatstroke in pregnant women.

Can I wash my hands with cold water during the confinement period in summer? During the confinement period, you should avoid having your body exposed to the wind from the fan. When turning on the air conditioner, there is no need to point the vent towards the pregnant woman, and it is most appropriate to set the room temperature at around 25 to 28 degrees Celsius. In addition, if your clothes and pants become soaked due to excessive sweating during the confinement period, you must change into dry clothes and pants immediately; in winter, prepare a nightgown before the bed, and put it on immediately when you get up in the middle of the night to breastfeed, so as not to catch a cold. During the period of confinement, pregnant women have more meals and eat more. If they do not pay attention to rinsing their mouths, cleaning and brushing their teeth, it is easy for bacteria to multiply in their mouths and cause oral problems. In the past, many women blindly followed the herd belief in the "rule" that they could not brush their teeth during the confinement period. As a result, they ruined their teeth during the "confinement period". Pregnant women should brush their teeth once or twice a day, and can use a children's electric toothbrush to brush gently. After each meal, rinse your mouth with warm water to clean it.
