How long does it take for the lochia to turn yellow?

If it is a natural delivery, the stubborn postpartum lochia will clear in about 9 days, and then light yellow serous lochia will appear in the vagina, and this kind of light yellow serous lochia will take about 2 weeks to completely clear. After the serous lochia, white lochia will continue to be discharged from the vagina, so it takes about one month for all the postpartum lochia to be clean. If the lochia has not cleared up after 9 days after delivery, it is considered to be caused by poor uterine repair or residue in the uterine cavity. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a B-ultrasound examination.

1. Tissue residues

It may be due to uterine malformation, uterine fibroids and other reasons, or it may be due to the unskilled technical skills of the surgeon, resulting in the failure to completely eliminate the pregnancy tissue, causing some tissue to remain in the uterine cavity.

2. Intrauterine infection

Intrauterine infection may be caused by taking a sitz bath after giving birth, using unclean sanitary napkins, having sex before the baby is one month old, or by surgical operators not performing thorough disinfection and sterilization.

3. Uterine contractions

However, due to the inability to rest well after giving birth, or the usual physical weakness and sickness, or the delivery time is too long, the blood and qi are depleted, resulting in weak uterine contractions and continuous lochia after delivery.

In fact, as a woman, you must understand the reasons why postpartum lochia continues. Because only in this way can the relevant nursing measures be better implemented, women must also take good care of their bodies in their daily lives after giving birth. Eat more nutritious foods to restore your body to health as soon as possible, so that you can better take care of your newborn.

The lochia of the parturient is first bright red lochia which lasts for 3-4 days, then turns into serous lochia which lasts for about 10 days, and finally turns into white lochia which lasts for about 3 weeks. Evil discharge with yellow discharge is not clear of uterine cavity infection or vaginitis. It is necessary to go to the hospital for a follow-up visit and do B-ultrasound to check the status of the uterus repair, and do a routine examination of leucorrhea to confirm the infection of bacteria and actively take medication. Pay attention to keeping the vulva clean and hygienic, wear loose cotton underwear, avoid long-term use of soap, shower gel and other alkaline liquids to clean the vulva, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.
