Appendicitis location map of women

Appendicitis location map of women

Appendicitis is an inflammatory change caused by various factors. It is a common surgical disease, more common in young people, and more common in men than in women. Acute appendicitis is relatively common in clinical medicine and can occur in women of all ages and during pregnancy. Chronic appendicitis is relatively rare, so where is appendicitis located in the human body? What are the examination items for appendicitis? Let me give you a brief introduction below.

Causes of appendicitis

1. Acute appendicitis

(1) Infarction The appendix is a long, thin tube that communicates with the cecum at only one end. Once blocked, secretions may accumulate in the lumen, gas pressure may increase, and the appendix wall may be compressed, blocking distal blood circulation. On this basis, pathogens in the lumen invade and damage the mucosa, which may cause infection.

(2) The key element of infection is direct infection caused by bacteria in the appendix cavity. If the appendix mucosa is slightly damaged, bacteria will invade the wall and cause varying degrees of infection.

(3) Other factors believed to be related to the onset of the disease include digestive tract dysfunction such as diarrhea and constipation, which causes visceral nerve reflexes, resulting in spasms of the appendix muscles and blood vessels, narrowing of the appendix lumen, obstruction of blood supply, mucosal damage, and bacterial invasion, leading to inflammatory reactions.

2. Chronic appendicitis

In clinical medicine, it can be roughly divided into two categories: recurrent appendicitis and chronic appendicitis. The former is mostly caused by the inability to completely eliminate residual infection when acute appendicitis occurs, resulting in the condition becoming difficult to cure. The latter type has no history of acute appendicitis, the symptoms are subtle, and the clinical symptoms are often inaccurate.

Where is appendicitis located in the human body?

There is a transient pain in the lower abdomen, which starts in the upper abdomen or around the navel for a few hours or stays in the lower abdomen for 24 hours, and is accompanied by pressure pain and rebound pain and abdominal muscle tension. Later, there is fatigue, fever, headache and general malaise. Generally, it is treated with conservative techniques without surgical treatment.

The anatomical location of the appendix is at the line connecting the right anterior superior iliac ridge and the east-west 1/3 of the navel, in other words, at the lower right abdomen.

Analyze where the appendicitis is located in the human body

The appendix, the site of appendicitis, is a degenerate organ of the body (the appendix of herbivores is very developed), about 7-9 cm long and 0.5 cm in diameter, located in the lower right corner of the abdomen, inside the cecum, connected with the cecum at the proximal end and closed at the distal end. Because the appendix cavity is tiny, it is also a blind tube. Food residues and fecal stones can easily fall into the cavity, blocking the lumen and causing inflammation. The epidermal projection is called MacBurney's point, which is located at the intersection of the outer and middle 1/3 of the line from the right anterior superior iliac spine to the umbilicus. This point is tender to the touch in appendicitis.
