Pregnant woman lying down with hard stomach

In fact, when pregnant, women will pay close attention to their physical condition, fearing that any problems with their body will affect the health of the fetus in their womb. But in fact, what they should do more is to relax. If you feel that your stomach is a little hard when you lie down, don’t be too nervous. This is also a very common pregnancy reaction, which may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

1. Nausea and vomiting

Most pregnant women will inevitably experience varying degrees of nausea and vomiting in the first three months of pregnancy. The elderly call this "morning sickness," which often occurs in the morning. Treatment can be dietary therapy, that is, avoiding greasy and fried foods. Eating a few soda crackers before getting out of bed in the morning and drinking fruit juice can also improve symptoms. If the condition is still very serious, you can take "antiemetics" and "vitamin B6" to improve it; if it is serious enough to cause hypoglycemia, dehydration and abnormal liver function, hospitalization is required.

2. Frequent urination and the urge to defecate

After pregnancy, the uterus gradually grows larger and presses forward on the bladder, and the capacity of the bladder becomes smaller and smaller. So when the urine accumulates to a certain level, you will feel the urge to urinate and go to the bathroom frequently, but it is only a trickle, not as surging as before. The same situation also occurs in the large intestine. Once the large intestine is stimulated, there is a feeling of urge to defecate. This situation will last for 3 months. After more than 3 months, the pelvic cavity will no longer be able to accommodate the enlarged uterus. The uterus will rise into the abdominal cavity, and the pressure on the bladder and large intestine will gradually disappear. Frequent urination and the urge to defecate will also be relieved at the same time.

3. Lower abdominal pain

In addition to considering medical conditions, such as miscarriage, cystitis, gastroenteritis, uterine fibroids, etc., abdominal pain on both sides may be caused by an enlarged uterus, which pulls on the round bands that fix the position of the uterus on both sides, and is particularly likely to occur on the left side. It usually occurs after certain postures, such as standing up suddenly, bending over, coughing or sneezing, and usually disappears after 2 to 3 weeks.

4. Back pain

Most of the back pain caused by pregnancy is due to changes in posture. As the uterus grows larger, the waist will involuntarily lean back in order to overcome the protruding abdomen, causing local muscle pulling. If the condition is serious, you should consult an orthopedic surgeon to see if there is a possibility of a herniated disc.

5. Headache

The most common cause of headaches is changes in blood flow to the brain due to the action of hormones. However, sinusitis, poor eyesight, colds, lack of sleep, etc. are all possible causes. If the headache persists and medication does not improve it, you should see a doctor to consider the possibility of a brain tumor.
