What is considered a regular menstrual period?

Under normal circumstances, menstruation comes once a month. Some people have their periods every 28 days, while others have their periods every 30 days or so. As long as the menstrual period is regular, it means the body is still very healthy. So what counts as regular menstruation?

1. Check your menstrual period

If you want to know whether your menstrual period is regular, you need to see how many days your menstrual period is. Normally, the menstrual period is 2 to 5 days. The menstrual flow is very little on the first day, and it will be more on the second or third day. Until the 4th day, menstruation will gradually decrease and finally stop. If the menstrual period conforms to this regularity, it means that your menstrual period is normal.

2. Deep red menstrual period

You can also observe the color of menstrual blood. For people with regular menstruation, menstruation is dark red and there are no blood clots. You can look at the color of your menstrual blood. If the color is not dark red and there are blood clots, this is not normal. You can use Chinese medicine to regulate your body, and if you persist for a period of time, you will find that your menstrual period will gradually return.

Women should still protect their bodies more. Only normal menstruation can indicate that their bodies are healthy. If the menstruation is irregular, it is recommended to adjust the work and rest habits, pay more attention to the diet, and eat more hot foods.

Reasons for delayed menstruation

According to Chinese medicine, the causes of irregular menstruation are both deficiency and excess. The deficiency syndrome is mostly due to blood stasis blocking Chong and Ren meridians, and new blood cannot return to the meridians; the deficiency syndrome is mostly due to yin deficiency and excessive fire, which shakes the blood sea and leads to prolonged menstruation. Menstrual disorders are usually caused by dysfunction of the internal organs, imbalance of blood and qi, or deficiency of both qi and blood.

1. Qi deficiency and blood stasis: If a woman is usually depressed, it will lead to Qi deficiency and blood stasis over time. Or women may be affected by dampness during their menstrual period or after giving birth, which can block the circulation of blood and qi and cause blood stasis. Because blood stasis blocks the uterine vessels, new blood cannot return to the menstruation, resulting in continuous delay of menstruation.

2. Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire: If a woman has a Yin deficiency constitution, or has been suffering from long-term illness that has damaged her Yin fluid, given birth too many times, or had excessive sexual intercourse, her body will suffer from Yin and blood depletion. Yin deficiency and excessive fire cause blood to be restless, and menstruation cannot function normally, resulting in prolonged menstruation.

Blood and Qi imbalance or Qi and blood deficiency can cause menstrual disorders

Women with menstrual disorders usually have changes in lip color or complexion. Traditional Chinese medicine can find the cause of menstrual disorders based on the changes in blood and qi on the face. According to work experience, the complexion of women with menstrual disorders generally has the following changes:

1. The face is faintly pale, with blue veins faintly visible on the cheeks and nose, dark lips and dark eye sockets: this is common in women who are upset and easily angered.

2. Dull complexion and purple lips: common in women with blood bruises in the body.

3. Dark yellow or pale and swollen face, and light-colored lips: common in women with spleen and qi deficiency.

4. Oily face and small pimples: common in women with cold and dampness in the body.

5. Pale face as if powdered, red cheekbones as if with eye shadow, red lips, and weak constitution: commonly seen in women with both Qi and Yin deficiency.
