Premonitory discharge

Premonitory discharge

Discharge is a physiological secretion of women composed of the internal tissue of the uterus and the vaginal mucosa. Under normal circumstances, the discharge of healthy women is colorless, transparent and odorless. However, when there are some changes in the uterine tissue or during pregnancy, the discharge will be abnormal. Discharge is also an important part of diagnosing women's gynecological diseases. So, is discharge a precursor to menstruation?

Is discharge a sign of menstruation?

1. Under normal physiological conditions, secretion usually increases 2-3 days before and after the menstrual period, during ovulation, pregnancy and sexual intercourse.

2. The main symptom of excessive vaginal discharge before menstruation is usually excessive vaginal discharge, which is caused by increased pelvic congestion when menstruation is about to come. The normal menstrual cycle is 20-30 days, and it is normal for the menstrual period to be one week earlier or later.

The secretion condition of women at each stage

1. Postpartum discharge: There is a lot of blood discharge in the first few days after giving birth, which is called stubborn lochia, and then serous lochia. The discharge that begins 2 to 3 weeks after giving birth is a mixture of deciduous tissue, cervical mucus, vaginal epithelial cells, and bacteria. It is white in color and is called white lochia, also known as confinement secretion.

2. Puberty secretions: With the onset of puberty, the eggs in the ovaries begin to grow and develop. Under the influence of estrogen secreted by the eggs, girls begin to have a small amount of mucous secretions 1 to 2 years before the first menstruation, which can last until the ovulation period 1 to 2 years after the first menstruation when the sexual cycle is established.

3. Discharge during childbearing age: As the estrogen level in women of childbearing age gradually rises to a peak, the secretion of mucus in the cervical glands increases. 2 to 3 days before the first menstruation, there is often more thick discharge due to pelvic congestion.

4. Exogenous estrogen induces secretion: Gynecological diseases such as amenorrhea or abnormal uterine bleeding due to imbalance can promote the rise of the cervical canal and female secretions and cause secretions.

5. Newborn secretions: The vaginal and cervical mucosa of the fetus proliferate under the influence of estrogen secreted by the embryo. After birth, the estrogen level in the body drops sharply, so the newborn baby has more colorless or milky white thick secretions in the private parts in the first 10 days.

6. Discharge during pregnancy: During pregnancy, especially starting from the 3rd to 4th month of pregnancy, due to the obvious increase in estrogen and estrogen levels, the secretions of the vaginal wall and the mucus secreted by the cervical gland ducts increase, and more viscous discharge is usually produced.

Leucorrhea is a normal physiological need of women before menstruation. Excessive and thick leucorrhea is a sign that menstruation is approaching. When there is a lot of leucorrhea, women need to pay attention to the color, smell, and texture of leucorrhea to see if it is within the normal range. They can adjust their diet and rest before and after menstruation according to the abnormality of secretions and take care of their own health.
