Can I do nt when I am 11 weeks pregnant?

Nowadays, more and more couples are unable to conceive due to some reasons, so for people today, being able to successfully become pregnant is indeed a very happy thing. However, we still need to be cautious during pregnancy and must do a good job of prenatal care. We should also go to the hospital regularly for relevant examinations. Nowadays, the probability of fetal malformations is actually quite high, so it is best for us to do a good job of fetal malformation screening during pregnancy. In addition to the common Down syndrome screening and amniocentesis, we can also do NT examinations.

When to do NT test

The nt test is usually performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. If it is before 11 weeks, it is technically impossible to complete, because the fetus is still relatively small at this time, and after 14 weeks, the stored water may be absorbed by the developing lymphatic system, so we will not be able to obtain the most accurate data test.

What is NT test for pregnant women?

nt actually refers to the nuchal translucency. This type of examination is also called the nuchal translucency scanner in clinical medicine. It mainly uses B-ultrasound to accurately measure the thickest part of the fetal neck skin. In this way, it can be assessed whether the fetus has Down syndrome. If during the examination it is found that the fetus is beyond the normal range, further fetal abnormality screening tests should be done, such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling.

What is the NT test?

If the baby does have Down syndrome, there will be water retention in the subcutaneous tissue of the fetus, so the skin behind the neck is usually thicker. If it exceeds the standard, it is likely that there is a chromosomal or other malformation problem. Also, if the fetus's nuchal translucency is thicker, it is likely that there is congenital heart disease.

It is indeed possible to do a NT test at 11 weeks of pregnancy. Through the NT test, we can immediately find out whether the baby has Down syndrome. If it is confirmed to be such a disease, then the pregnancy should be terminated immediately, which can cause less physical and mental harm to the pregnant woman. However, after the NT examination, everyone still needs to do amniocentesis. That’s the only way to get the final result.
