How many days will I bleed after having an IUD inserted?

IUD is a common contraceptive method chosen by women who do not want to have children after pregnancy. However, many women do not know what normal reactions there will be after IUD surgery, and what bleeding will occur after surgery. So, how many days should the bleeding last after IUD surgery?

Irregular vaginal bleeding, menorrhagia, and prolonged menstruation are the most common side effects after intrauterine ring placement. Because the mechanical compression of the contraceptive ring can cause damage to the uterine wall and vascular endothelial cells, leading to excessive menstruation. Non-menstrual bleeding after IUD insertion is most likely a side effect of the IUD.

After the IUD is installed, you need to go to the hospital for X-ray to check the size of the IUD and whether it is in the correct position in the uterus. If it is in the correct position, the IUD may be slightly larger than the uterus (after all, the ideal size is not 100%) and there will be slight discomfort and slight bleeding, which will be fine after a period of time when it adapts. Otherwise you need to remove it and reset it.

Experts say that bleeding after IUD placement is a side effect of IUD placement, but patients should pay attention to it. How long the bleeding lasts depends on your own condition. If the bleeding does not stop for a long time, it is recommended to actively go to a professional hospital for examination and treatment. It is very important, but patients should pay attention to the common problems after IUD placement!

(1) Take adequate rest and avoid strenuous physical work. Generally, you need to rest for 1-2 days. After the IUD is placed, the vulva should be cleaned every day to keep it clean. There is no need to take a bath in a basin within 2 weeks, and there is no need to have sex within 2 weeks to prevent infection.

(2) Regular maintenance. Generally, the first checkup after the placement of the ring is after the first menstruation, the second is within 3-6 months after the placement of the ring, and the third checkup is a follow-up visit 12 months after the placement of the ring, and then a follow-up visit once a year.

(3) Pay attention to vaginal bleeding and the falling of the ring. If you find that the vaginal bleeding is heavy, more than twice the normal menstrual blood volume or the bleeding time is long, or the changes in the menstrual cycle are more obvious, you should go to the hospital for examination. During the first three months, you should also pay attention to whether the ring has fallen off.

(4) Possible adverse reactions after IUD insertion. If the menstrual flow increases significantly after the IUD is placed, the menstrual period increases significantly, or there is frequent small amount of bleeding, as well as severe back pain and abdominal pain, these are all abnormal conditions and you should go to the hospital for a physical examination.
