Is postpartum urticaria temporary?

Urticaria occurs after giving birth. The symptoms of urticaria are generally erythema and wheals of varying sizes. The erythema is generally red in color, and the wheals may be red or pale in color. The skin around the pale wheals is reddish. And in the acute stage of the disease, scratching will cause the rash to increase and the wheals to form a whole patch. The erythema and wheals of urticaria can disappear on their own within 24 hours, but the rash may come and go if the condition is unstable. In addition to skin symptoms, urticaria is accompanied by severe itching, and some patients may also have systemic symptoms, such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, abdominal pain or difficulty breathing, and even anaphylactic shock, which is life-threatening.

Urticaria is a localized vascular reaction caused by the temporary dilation and increased permeability of small blood vessels in the skin and mucous membranes. In clinical medicine, wheals can be seen. The wheals may be scattered or combined into one piece. The color may be red, pale, or even tan. The wheals may vary in size. The rash may be localized or widespread, and there may be no trace after it disappears.

The patient will spontaneously experience severe itching, and a few patients will continue to experience pain or burning sensation. The wheals will disappear after a few hours, but new wheals will appear again, one after another. It is not necessary to use medication for treatment. If urticaria or unbearable itching occurs, you can apply calamine lotion to relieve the itching.
