Are there other ways to test for pregnancy besides pregnancy test sticks?

Pregnancy is a special feeling. For a woman, pregnancy is a very important thing in her life. Many pregnant women will be very surprised and excited when their bodies begin to show signs of pregnancy. Expectant mothers all know that pregnancy test sticks can be used to detect whether a woman is pregnant. So, besides pregnancy test sticks, are there any other ways to detect whether a woman is pregnant? Are other methods accurate?

Is there anything else that can detect pregnancy besides pregnancy test sticks?

1. Urine test. The basic principle of urine testing is that when the embryo begins to form, a secretion called human chorionic gonadotropin will appear in the woman's body, and this secretion can be excreted in the urine. You can start taking a pregnancy test about 2 weeks after menopause. The pregnancy tests sold in the market and the urine tests performed in hospitals all use the same principle.

2. Internal examination. The pregnancy test method with 100% accuracy is to have an internal examination by an obstetrician and gynecologist after two weeks of pregnancy (usually this number of weeks is reached when the pregnancy test is taken due to delayed menstruation). Because the uterus will enlarge in the early stages of pregnancy, and the cervix and the lower part of the uterus will become softer, the doctor can easily confirm it by palpation with his fingers. Internal examination may make women feel uncomfortable or upset, but it will not affect the fetus, so pregnant mothers do not need to worry too much.

3. Ultrasound. Around the 5th week of pregnancy (the first confirmed prenatal check-up), the doctor will do an ultrasound examination for the pregnant woman. The main purpose of ultrasound examination is to understand the situation inside the uterus, the size of the fetus, and most importantly, the fetal heartbeat. At this time, the fetal heartbeat can be clearly heard. Other things such as whether the condition of the embryo is normal, the number of fetuses, and whether the body features of the fetus are complete often rely on ultrasound scanning during pregnancy to assist in diagnosis.

When testing for pregnancy in a hospital, the doctor will generally ask questions such as: when was the last menstrual period, whether the usual menstrual cycle is stable and normal, whether the last menstrual flow is the same as usual, whether there is any experience of childbirth or abortion, whether there are any diseases that are being treated with medication, etc.
