Eating a little spicy food will cause swollen and painful gums, mouth sores and other symptoms. What is the reason for this? From the perspective of TCM constitution, being afraid of cold and catching cold easily indicates a deficiency of Yang Qi and a cold constitution. If you often get angry easily, you may have a hot-tempered physique. This kind of yang deficiency and cold constitution and hot constitution in the same person is what is commonly referred to as external heat and internal cold constitution or upper heat and lower cold constitution. To put it simply, external heat (upper heat) is actually a kind of virtual fire, which is a manifestation of deficiency of yin essence and virtual fire ascending; while internal cold (lower cold) is mainly a manifestation of yin deficiency and internal heat caused by deficiency of yang qi in the human body (middle and lower Jiao). The root cause of this kind of physical condition is actually deficiency of both yin and yang. When Yang is deficient, the fire is too strong, and it is easy to get angry and spread the fire. Therefore, the heat symptoms caused by Yin essence deficiency are mostly external and on the upper body. When Yang is deficient, coldness is severe, and the coldness stagnates and tends downward. Therefore, the cold stagnation caused by deficiency of Qi and blood in the body mainly manifests itself internally and in the lower part. In clinical medicine, it mainly manifests as a disease of fundamental deficiency (deficiency of both yin and yang) and superficial excess (mouth and tongue ulcers due to the upward inflammation of fire and abdominal pain and chills due to the internal accumulation of dampness, etc.). So how can we regulate this kind of physical condition of "hot outside and cold inside"? The way to regulate this kind of physical condition is to replenish both yin and yang. In an emergency, it will treat the symptoms but not the root cause; in a slow manner, it will treat both the symptoms and the root cause. Summer and autumn: nourishing yin and clearing heat are the main focuses. Summer and autumn are hotter, and consumable foods can damage yin essence. At this time, it is advisable to eat some yin-nourishing and refreshing foods such as donkey-hide gelatin cake, yellow chrysanthemum, wolfberry, Korean ginseng, Dendrobium officinale, etc. You can also eat more fruits such as pears and persimmons. Friends who like to drink tea can drink black tea as the main method, or take Liuwei Dihuang Pills, donkey-hide gelatin blood-replenishing oral liquid, Chuanxiong paste, etc. under the guidance of a doctor. Treatment from above focuses on nourishing yin and clearing heat, while treatment from below focuses on warming yang and dispersing cold. |
