If the vaginal discharge is yellow and has an odor

Many female friends know that secretions are transparent and are excreted from the vagina. It has a protective effect on women's physical and mental health. But nowadays people are under too much pressure at work, and it is easy to have abnormal leucorrhea. Then let’s understand together what is the reason for the yellow leucorrhea with a strong odor?

If you find that your leucorrhea is yellow and has a strong odor, it is recommended that you go to the local hospital's outpatient gynecology department for a routine leucorrhea examination to further confirm whether it is acute vaginitis.

Acute vaginitis with yellow discharge is generally classified into the following categories:

1. Trichomonas vaginitis: The main symptoms are vulvar itching, occasional burning pain, pain during sexual intercourse, etc. The secretion is typically thin and pus-like, light green, sticky, and has an odor. If combined with urethral infection, there may be frequent urination and painful urination, and black spots on the cervix may form a typical strawberry-like cervix.

Treatment: Because trichomoniasis vaginitis may be accompanied by infection of the urethral orifice, urethral periarticular area, and Bartholin's glands with Trichomonas, systemic medication is required to treat this disease. The main treatment drugs are oral administration of ornidazole or metronidazole. Sex partners need to be treated separately, and the patient and sexual partners should be told to avoid unprotected sexual intercourse until they recover. Because the infection rate is very high, screening is required again within three months.

2. Gardnerella positive vaginitis, also known as Haemophilus vaginitis, is an inflammation of the vaginal mucosa caused by Streptococcus Gardnerella. It can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, so it is included in the category of reproductive tract infection.

Most infections caused by Streptococcus Gardneri are mild and occur most often in sexually active women. Acute symptoms include excessive vaginal discharge with a fishy or ammonia odor, damp vulva, often accompanied by vaginal burning, pain during intercourse and vulvar itching.

Examination showed that the vulva was red and swollen, the vaginal mucosa was hematoma, gray-red, and slightly swollen. The secretion is uniform, relatively sparse, and sometimes yellow-brown or emerald green.

The treatment is to use suppositories made of sulfonamides or tetracycline drugs, which are inserted into the shallow layer of the vagina. Oral administration of ornidazole or ampicillin, etc. Male lovers are often asymptomatic carriers, but the urine culture detection rate is as high as 80%. Therefore, both parties should be treated separately. In addition, during the treatment period, the vulva should be kept clean and dry. Sitting bath and tub bath are strictly prohibited. Shower is allowed. Underwear should be changed every day and washed with hot water.

3. Atrophic vaginitis: The main symptoms are burning discomfort in the vulva, thin, light yellow secretions, and pain during sexual intercourse.

Treatment: Supplement estrogen to enhance vaginal immunity, such as estriol cream; inhibit bacterial growth and development, and choose quinolone drugs to plug the vagina. For actual medication, you need to consult a professional doctor in the local hospital outpatient department.
