Can I get vaccinated if I have HPV infection?

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women aged 15 to 44 in my country. The development of HPV into cervical cancer is a long process. Most women who have had sexual life may be infected with HPV in their lifetime. As long as the immune system is healthy, it can be cured. There are many clinical diagnoses of HPV. Even if HPV infection is discovered during a test, the HPV vaccine still has a preventive effect. So can people with a history of HPV infection get the vaccine?

1.HPV viruses are divided into high-risk and low-risk types, including many different types. Currently, our cervical cancer vaccines in China include bivalent, quadrivalent and nonavalent vaccines, which respectively prevent infection by different types of HPV. Therefore, if you have been infected with HPV, but the infection is not one of the types that can be prevented by the vaccine, you can still get the cervical cancer vaccine, because it can still have a preventive effect on high-risk HPV types that have not been infected. Different vaccines have different available injection ages, which is also something to pay attention to.

2. The effect of getting vaccinated after being infected with HPV is not very good. This is because once infected with human papillomavirus, it will remain dormant in the body. If the human body develops immunity, it will inhibit the copying of viral DNA in the body and may gradually turn negative. For women who have already been infected with HPV, the HPV vaccine cannot eliminate the virus that has already been dormant in the body. The latent virus will always be in the body and cannot be eliminated by itself unless it turns negative on its own. Once infected with the virus, even if you get vaccinated, it will no longer be able to prevent the virus from spreading.

3. Since you have already been infected with human papillomavirus, you do not need to get vaccinated with human papillomavirus vaccine, because infection with the virus will stimulate the body to produce antibodies. The cervical cancer vaccine is mainly used for patients who have not been infected with the papillomavirus, preferably women who have not had sexual intercourse. Human papillomavirus infection needs to be treated actively. If there are obvious visible genital warts, laser surgery should be performed immediately, and interferon suppositories and antiviral drugs should be used regularly after the surgery. If cervical infection occurs, cervical erosion surgery can be performed.
