Fever for no reason during breastfeeding

Fever for no reason during breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the mother's physical fitness will be relatively weak, and she will be very prone to fever and cold symptoms. If a pregnant woman has a fever according to body temperature measurement, she needs to reduce the fever immediately, because the fever of the pregnant mother will affect the development of the baby. Under normal circumstances, mothers with a low fever can breastfeed their babies. They just need to give their babies some water after feeding to prevent them from having diarrhea. Do not breastfeed your baby if the body temperature exceeds 38°C. Moreover, the causes of fever are different, so mothers need to adopt different solutions.

What should I do if I have an unexplained fever while breastfeeding?

During breastfeeding, new mothers should not take medicine casually due to colds, fevers, etc. This is to avoid adverse effects of the medicine on the child. If the fever is not very serious, mothers can treat the fever caused by cold by drinking boiled water and ginger sugar water. This kind of health drink makes the human body sweat, thus achieving the purpose of curing fever and cold. Secondly, you can consider using physical therapy to reduce the mother's fever - use ethanol to rub the forehead, palms, soles of feet, and front and back of the heart, and based on the principle of alcohol evaporation, the mother's body temperature will be reduced.

If a breastfeeding mother has a fever of more than 38 degrees, she should not breastfeed her baby. For the health of herself and her baby, it is recommended that new mothers see a doctor and be sure to explain that they are breastfeeding and want to continue breastfeeding. The doctor will generally provide safe treatment measures for such special situations.
