What should I supplement during the 6th month of pregnancy?

Usually, until the second trimester of pregnancy, doctors will judge what six-month pregnant women lack and what to supplement based on the physiological conditions of pregnant women and B-ultrasound examination results. However, in many cases, the deficiency of pregnant women is relatively normal, and doctors will not make any suggestions. So, what should be supplemented in the sixth month of pregnancy?

What should be supplemented during the 6th month of pregnancy

Protein: The World Health Organization recommends that pregnant women should increase their protein intake by 9 grams per day in the second trimester of pregnancy, which is equivalent to 300 ml of milk, 2 eggs, or 50 grams of lean meat. If you mainly eat whole plant foods, you should increase protein by 15 grams a day, which is equivalent to 40 grams of dried soybeans or 75 grams of dried tofu or 200 grams for a regular meal.

Carbohydrates and fats: The general recommendation is that the energy requirement of pregnant women at this time should increase by 200 calories per day compared to the early stages of pregnancy. Considering that most women are assigned lighter work in the second trimester, and housework and other activities will also decrease to a certain extent, the increase in energy should be individualized and adjusted according to your weight gain. Weight gain should generally be controlled at 0.3-0.5 kg per week. Lipids are the main raw materials for brain structure. When essential fatty acids are deficient, the division and reproduction of brain cells will be delayed. The body fat should provide 20% to 30% of the total kinetic energy. Edible oil is richer in essential fatty acids than animal fat. The amount of cooking oil you consume every day should be around 25 grams, and the total body fat should be 50-60 grams.

Vitamins: Pregnant women now have a higher need for B vitamins, which cannot be stored in the body and must be adequately supplied to meet the body's needs. Water and carbonates: This stage should also pay attention to the intake of calcium and iron. In addition, nutrients such as iodine, magnesium, zinc, copper, etc. are also indispensable for the health of mother and baby. Drink at least 6 cups of boiled water every day. Pregnant women with edema should drink less water at night and drink enough water during the day. Drinking more water is also a reasonable way to ensure smooth urination and prevent urinary tract infections.
