I am 6 months pregnant and I need to pay attention to every aspect. So what is the amniotic fluid index in 6 months of pregnancy? Is everything normal? By comparing the amniotic fluid index, we can understand whether the amniotic fluid metabolism of pregnant women is normal. For the health of yourself and your baby, please read the following content to learn more about it. What is the amniotic fluid index in the 6th month of pregnancy? The so-called amniotic fluid refers to the fluid in the amniotic cavity of the uterus during pregnancy. Throughout the pregnancy process, it is an essential ingredient to keep the fetus alive. The source of amniotic fluid varies during the different development stages of the fetus. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman mainly comes from the plasma components of the test tube embryo; later, as the organs of the test tube embryo begin to develop and perfect, other things such as the fetal urine, respiratory tract, digestive tract, fetal umbilical cord, embryonic surface, etc., also become sources of amniotic fluid. The amount of amniotic fluid in pregnant women generally increases with the advancement of gestational age. At 20 weeks, the average is 5 cm; at around 28 weeks, it increases to 7 cm; it is the highest at 32 to 36 weeks, about 10 to 15 cm; and then slowly decreases. The sixth month of pregnancy is the middle and late stages of pregnancy, so the amniotic fluid depth of about 6 cm is within the normal range. Within the normal range, it is generally believed that if the amniotic fluid flow exceeds 20 cm/l at any stage of pregnancy, it is polyhydramnios, and if the amniotic fluid flow is less than 3 cm/l in the late stage, it is oligohydramnios. If the vertical depth of the larger dark area of amniotic fluid in color ultrasound examination exceeds 7 cm or the amniotic fluid index exceeds 18 cm, it indicates polyhydramnios. If the amniotic fluid is less than 2 cm, it is oligohydramnios; if it is less than 2 cm, it is severe oligohydramnios. According to the index value method, an index value no greater than 8 cm is the critical point of oligohydramnios, and no greater than 5 cm is the square root of oligohydramnios. Oligohydramnios in late pregnancy is mostly caused by reduced placental function. Abnormal development of the urogenital system can also cause oligohydramnios, but it is very rare and can sometimes be detected by B-ultrasound examination. In the late pregnancy, the umbilical cord of the fetus around the neck generally cannot be turned around, and a cesarean section must be performed under the doctor's advice. |
