Is it normal that the lochia is not cleared up two months after giving birth?

Postpartum lochia has always been a confusion for many pregnant women. The appearance of postpartum lochia also brings a lot of inconvenience to women's daily life. What's worse, postpartum lochia can also cause various bad conditions. For example, not leaving immediately, dripping continuously, etc. So, how long does it take for the lochia after cesarean section to be clean and everything is normal? What should I do if the lochia after cesarean section is still not clean 2 and a half months later?

Generally speaking, the lochia of pregnant women lasts for 4-6 weeks. If it exceeds this period of time and the lochia still does not stop, you need to see a doctor immediately.

However, the duration of lochia after childbirth will vary due to the different physical conditions of each expectant mother. For example, some expectant mothers recover slowly after childbirth and their physical fitness is still relatively weak, so the duration of postpartum lochia will be prolonged.

If the expectant mother continues to discharge lochia for more than a month after giving birth, and the amount of lochia does not gradually decrease, it is likely that the expectant mother is weak after giving birth and needs immediate recuperation.

To put it simply, unclean lochia refers to the fact that postpartum lochia lasts too long.

Postpartum lochia refers to the residual blood and turbid fluid left in the uterus after delivery, which is also stained with necrotic and fallen decidual tissue, uterine wall during pregnancy, mucus and bacteria. During pregnancy, the embryo adheres to the inner cavity of the uterus. After the baby is born, the embryo will also be delivered. However, the wound caused by the embryo leaving the uterus will take some time to heal completely. Therefore, under normal circumstances, postpartum lochia can be cleared within 20 days after giving birth.

But if the postpartum lochia continues to flow and has not stopped for more than one month after giving birth, it means that the lochia is not clean. According to traditional Chinese medicine, lochia is usually caused by disordered blood and qi circulation, blood stasis and blood stasis in pregnant women. If not treated promptly and delayed for a long time, it may affect the physical and mental health of the pregnant woman and cause other diseases. Incomplete lochia after delivery may cause local and systemic infection, and in severe cases, sepsis may occur. Improper lochia can easily cause late postpartum hemorrhage and even internal bleeding shock, which can seriously endanger the life of the pregnant woman.
