When is the best time to take DHA during pregnancy?

DHA is an important component of human cytoplasm. It is also indispensable for promoting the growth of human brain and macula. It can maintain the normal activity of neurons, help the formation of human brain thinking and memory ability, and improve the visual alertness of macula.

When is the best time for expectant mothers to take DHA during pregnancy?

There are three stages for taking DHA during pregnancy, which are called peak periods, that is, the three stages that are helpful for the baby's development.

The first stage: early pregnancy (first month of pregnancy)

Expectant mothers can supplement DHA around three weeks of pregnancy. This is the time when the fetal blastocyst and brain alveoli are growing and developing, and the brain nerves are growing rapidly. At this time, DHA is needed to assist growth and development. Many mothers may ask, why do we need to supplement DHA if the human body already has it stored? Because the mother's body storage is insufficient for the baby to digest and absorb, it needs to be supplemented.

Stage 2: Mid-pregnancy (four months of pregnancy)

Expectant mothers need to supplement DHA around 17 weeks of pregnancy. This month is the second stage of the baby's brain development. Memory marks will appear on the baby's head during this period, and it is the peak period of fetal brain nerve development, along with hearing and vision. This is why it is necessary to start supplementing nutrients in the second trimester of pregnancy, because many organs of the fetus begin to grow and develop this month, requiring a lot of nutrients, and the mother's body storage is not enough for the baby to digest and absorb, so the mother must pay attention to the nutritional intake in the second trimester of pregnancy.

The third stage: late pregnancy (seven months of pregnancy)

When the expectant mother is around 29 weeks pregnant, many pregnant women think that the baby has already taken shape and that the nutrients stored in the body are enough. This idea is wrong. The fetus's brain is not formed until the late pregnancy, and the expectant mother needs to continue to supplement DHA to help the baby develop. At this stage, the baby's brain tree will further develop and promote the fetus's central nervous system and endocrine system. The fetus will have movements such as heartbeat, leg lifting, and rolling.
