Does pelvic floor muscle relaxation affect sexual life?

Does pelvic floor muscle relaxation affect sexual life?

The pelvic floor muscles are a key muscle group in our body. It controls our body's urinary and reproductive system, as well as various physiological activities in the lower body. If this muscle group is out of balance, our body will behave in various ways. Abnormal condition. When the mother gives birth, the pelvic muscles will be overly tense and relaxed, causing the muscles to relax. So is it possible to have sex when the pelvic floor muscles are relaxed after giving birth?

How to exercise the pelvic floor muscles

Pelvic floor muscle training is very important. We can do it by lying on the bed, which is very convenient.

(1) Contract the muscles as you move forward and backward

Lie flat on the carpet. Bend your knees and straighten your feet. Keep your back straight and your pelvis tilted slightly backward. Try to actively bring the toes and tailbone closer together. Release the pressure and then repeat the training. Try to feel the center line of the basin closing in. There is no need to contract the deep pelvic muscles, nor to feel a lifting sensation. Only the attention is not focused on contracting forward, backward, left and right. You can place a finger on the central tendon or place your hand on the entire pelvic floor to check for proper posture. The movement and feeling of contracting the superficial pelvic floor muscles is just along the center line of the pelvis and close to the skin. We must prevent the contraction of expansion. If you want to exercise, you should contract the bulbospongiosus muscle, not the external anal sphincter. When you first start training, you may contract both layers of muscle at the same time. As you train again and again, the positioning of the contracted muscles will become more and more precise.

(2) Contract your muscles up and down

The supine position is the same as above. Try your best to bring your upper and lower ischial tuberosities closer together. In the opposite direction of the previous exercise, this exercise contracts the muscles up and down. You can palpate the inside of the sciatic nerve to feel the contraction of this muscle.

(3) Cross-folding

Lie flat on your back in the same position as above. This time, try to do the up and down, front and back, left and right cross-folding at the same time. Note that unlike the "lifting" contraction of the deep pelvic muscles, the contraction of the superficial muscles does not require lifting. Exercise according to the two types of contractions mentioned above.

(4) Inhale harmoniously while contracting your muscles

During the long 15-second breath, make a gentle "sssssss" sound to contract the muscles. Then try to make the sound "Fu Fu Fu Fu Fu" and breathe a little faster. Then try to make an "Ahahaha" sound to contract your muscles, and breathe in quite quickly. When you breathe out, try to exhale as much air as possible. Finally, you can try contracting your muscles while laughing, coughing, jumping, or preparing to jump.

Will the pelvic floor muscles affect the couple's sex life?

Pelvic floor muscle relaxation has a great impact on the sex life of couples, especially for women who have just given birth. Some men also have pelvic floor muscle relaxation, so both men and women need to strengthen their physical fitness.

Causes of pelvic floor muscle relaxation

Pregnancy: During pregnancy, the gradually expanding uterus will stretch the surrounding pelvic muscle fascia, cruciate ligaments and muscles and weaken their supporting capacity; during delivery, especially difficult natural delivery with forceps or vacuum extraction, the pelvic muscle fascia, cruciate ligaments and muscles may be overstretched and the damage may be aggravated. If you participate in physical work too soon after giving birth, especially heavy physical work, it will affect the recovery of the supporting force of the pelvic tissue, causing the uninvolved uterus to sink to varying degrees.

Long-term increased abdominal pressure: chronic cough, frequent constipation, ascites, frequent weightlifting, etc., all lead to increased intra-abdominal pressure and can cause pelvic function problems. Obesity, especially central obesity, can also lead to increased abdominal pressure.

Ageing: The shrinkage of the pelvic support structures that occurs with age, especially after menopause, also plays a key role in the development of pelvic dysfunction.
