Age limit for 9-valent HPV vaccine

Age limit for 9-valent HPV vaccine

The nine-valent HPV vaccine can prevent nine types of HPV virus infection, as well as cancers of the private parts, anus, vagina, and some genital warts, and is most popular among customers. However, compared with the other two HPV vaccines, it has more requirements, such as age limits. Let’s take a look at the age limits for the nine-valent HPV vaccine.

1. HPV vaccine 9-valent age limit

China's nine-valent HPV vaccine has strict age thresholds and can only be used by women aged 16-26. They must bring their ID cards when getting the vaccine.

Women within this age group are recommended to receive two other HPV vaccines. The bivalent vaccine is suitable for women aged 9 to 25, and the quadrivalent vaccine is suitable for women aged 20 to 45.

Tip: Hong Kong, China and many foreign countries have raised the age limit for the nine-valent HPV vaccine to 45 years old.

2Why does the 9-valent HPV vaccine have an age limit?

The age groups for HPV vaccination are determined based on the results of clinical trial data for different age groups in China.

HPV vaccine is a protective vaccine. Currently, there is no data showing that it is effective in preventing infectious diseases in people who have already been infected with the HPV types contained in the vaccine. Therefore, vaccination of people before sexual exposure has the best health and economic effect. When women are between 16 and 26 years old, they still have no sexual life and are not infected with HPV. Clinical studies have shown that vaccination is most effective in this age group, so it is set as the best age for vaccination.
