How to relieve menstrual nausea and vomiting

Every month women face the arrival of menstruation. For some women, this is a miserable day. Due to the different physical constitutions of women, they will experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and dizziness during menstruation. In fact, it may be caused by factors such as dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, and endocrine changes. Therefore, women should try to stay in bed and keep warm at this time. They can drink some ginger and sugar water, relax their mood and eat a light and delicious diet. This symptom can be relieved.

Causes of period nausea:

1. Dysmenorrhea

Although the underlying cause of the condition is not fully understood, it is thought to be due in part to the release of naturally occurring hormones known as prostaglandins. The release of prostaglandins, which cause the uterine wall to contract, can cause nausea. Other symptoms of dysmenorrhea include vomiting, cramping, and severe headaches during menstruation.

2. Endometriosis

This condition occurs when the endometrium implants or is found around the ovaries, on the intestinal wall, or in the fallopian tubes.

Endometrial implants are usually composed of small pieces of endometrial tissue. While building up, breaking down, and shedding of endometrial tissue is a normal part of menstruation, when it occurs outside the uterus, severe feelings of nausea can develop. In addition to nausea, endometriosis can cause diarrhea, severe pain in the rectum, abdominal cramping, and bloating. While medications can effectively treat the condition, more often surgery is required.

3. Hormonal changes during menstruation

These changes may lead to an increased concentration of digestive acids in the stomach, causing severe nausea. Women who have nausea linked to changes in hormone levels during menstruation may see some relief by using birth control pills. Injectable estrogen may be a good option for women who have difficulty using oral birth control pills.

How to relieve menstrual nausea and vomiting:

1. Drink brown sugar ginger soup to relieve discomfort

Brown sugar ginger soup has the effect of replenishing qi and blood, warming the meridians and activating blood circulation. When you feel cold and uncomfortable, nauseous and want to vomit during menstruation, drinking a bowl of brown sugar ginger soup can effectively warm the uterus and activate blood circulation, and relieve discomfort. It is especially suitable for people with cold constitution. The method of making brown sugar ginger soup is very simple. Wash and peel the ginger, cut it into small pieces and boil it with water. Filter out the ginger pieces and use them to make brown sugar.

2. Adjust your diet

During menstruation, you should pay attention to regular diet, eat light food, and avoid foods that should be avoided, especially spicy food, raw and cold food, and food containing caffeine. In addition, you should also eat less sweets. Eating too much sweets can easily aggravate anxiety. Eat more foods rich in vitamins and protein, such as chicken, fish, eggs, etc., which are good to eat during menstruation.

3. Relax your mood

During the menstrual period, you should pay special attention to keeping your mood relaxed. You can go for a walk outdoors in the fresh air, listen to soothing music to relax yourself, and maintain an optimistic and confident attitude, which will help prevent menstrual anxiety and discomfort.

4. Follow the doctor's advice

If the symptoms of nausea and vomiting during menstruation are severe, or even dehydration occurs, it is best to seek medical treatment promptly and take small amounts of rehydrating fluids multiple times under the guidance of a doctor. In severe cases, antiemetic drugs can be taken.
