Overview of Ectopic Pregnancy

Overview of Ectopic Pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy, to put it simply, means that the sperm and egg combine but the embryo does not implant and develop in the normal uterine cavity. The most common type is fallopian tube pregnancy. According to the different locations of embryo implantation, it is mainly divided into the following categories:

1. Fallopian tube pregnancy. As a more common type of ectopic pregnancy, tubal pregnancy is most commonly located in the ampulla, accounting for 50%-70%. When a woman suffers from fallopian tube inflammation and is not treated in time, it is easy to cause fallopian tube adhesion and closure, thereby blocking the normal process of sperm and egg combination, and directly preventing the embryo from implanting and developing in both fallopian tubes. The symptoms include amenorrhea, abdominal pain and irregular vaginal bleeding.

2. Ovarian pregnancy. Ovarian pregnancy, that is, the combination of sperm and egg in the uterus and ovary, the embryo implants and grows and develops. It is very rare, and the clinical manifestations are similar to those of fallopian tube pregnancy, mainly manifested in amenorrhea, abdominal pain and irregular bleeding. If pregnant women are not careful, once the anus ruptures, it will cause heavy bleeding in the abdomen and even shock.

3. Cervical pregnancy. When the sperm and egg combine too quickly, or when there are complications such as uterine hypoplasia, cervical pregnancy can easily occur. Cervical pregnancy is common in primiparas. Primiparas experience amenorrhea and early pregnancy reactions. The clinical symptoms are vaginal bleeding or pink discharge. The amount of bleeding generally increases from a little to a lot, and may also be intermittent heavy vaginal bleeding.

4. Abdominal pregnancy. Abdominal pregnancy refers to the embryo implantation and development in the abdomen between the bilateral fallopian tubes, uterus, ovaries and broad tendon. It is divided into primary and secondary types. Common symptoms include amenorrhea or early pregnancy reaction, postmenopausal abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding.

Clinical manifestations of ectopic pregnancy:

1. Menopause. When an ectopic pregnancy occurs, amenorrhea or delayed menstruation often occurs, usually for 6-8 weeks. But there is a small number of people who do not experience menopause. It should be noted that some women regard a small amount of bleeding as menstruation, so when the bleeding is less or the color becomes darker, it should be paid attention to.

2. Vaginal bleeding. When an improperly implanted test tube embryo dies, dark brown or dark red blood often appears and is discharged from the vagina, sometimes accompanied by membrane debris. This type of irregular vaginal bleeding is mostly in the form of dripping, and is generally not easy to exceed the menstrual flow.

3. Fainting and shock. As female patients' blood loss increases, they are more likely to develop fainting complications. Patients with more severe bleeding may experience symptoms such as dizziness, pale complexion, thin pulse, low blood pressure, and profuse sweating. More serious patients may also experience shock, which is manifested by fainting, confusion and low blood pressure.

In addition, many patients also experience complications such as nausea, vomiting, frequent urination and urgency, and some patients even suffer from shock, pale complexion and low blood pressure due to internal bleeding. If a pregnant woman finds that she has any of the above symptoms, she must seek medical attention immediately without delay.
