How far is the uterus from the vaginal opening?

The female reproductive system is relatively complex. Because a woman's vagina and uterus are connected, if vaginal diseases are not treated in time, they may induce cervical diseases. In real life, there are many women who suffer from vaginal diseases. These women are often unaware of the impact that vaginal diseases have on the uterus. But how far is a woman’s uterus from the vaginal opening?

The length of each woman's vagina is different, generally 7 to 12 cm. The end of the vagina is the cervix, which is 2 to 3 cm long. The cervical canal is connected to the uterus, so women should pay attention to perineal hygiene. If they do not pay attention to hygiene and cause vaginitis, it is easy to retrogradely infect the cervix, cervical canal and uterine cavity, and it is also easy to cause pelvic inflammation. Therefore, women who have had sexual intercourse should clean the perineum before and after sexual intercourse.

The uterus affects a woman's life, and it needs careful care and protection. Otherwise, many diseases will creep in without her noticing. The most common ones are:

(1) Diseases related to pregnancy. Women are often the victims of contraceptive or pregnancy failure (such as miscarriage, hydatidiform mole, ectopic pregnancy), and in this process, the uterus is repeatedly damaged.

(2) Uterine inflammation caused by various microbial infections. In recent years, with the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases, these inflammations have increased, such as cervical erosion, endometritis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease.

(3) Pathological changes in the uterus caused by endocrine disorders. Such as irregular menstruation, functional uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian tumors, etc.

According to the results of the gynecological disease survey, cervical erosion is still the most common gynecological disease with the highest incidence rate, accounting for about 30%-40% of the survey subjects. Moreover, the incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervical erosion is about 7-8 times higher than that in women without cervical erosion. Other diseases of the uterus also account for half of gynecological diseases, that is, one out of every two gynecological patients suffers from uterine diseases.
