Will bacterial vaginosis heal on its own?

Bacterial vaginosis is bacterial vaginosis, which is a gynecological disease mainly caused by infection with various pathogens. After suffering from bacterial vulvar disease, there will be symptoms such as itching and abnormal leucorrhea. Some of these diseases are relatively private, so many women are unwilling to go to the hospital for treatment, but instead hope that the disease can heal itself. So, will bacterial vaginal disease heal itself? Let’s take a look below.

For some patients with bacterial vaginitis, if the symptoms are relatively mild, the vaginitis can heal itself due to the self-cleaning function of the vagina, such as mild itching of the vulva and slight changes in the characteristics of leucorrhea. In this case, you can flush symptomatically, wash the vulva frequently, pay attention to sleep, and the vaginitis may heal itself; if during this treatment process, the vulvar symptoms worsen, the secretions increase, and the symptoms do not improve, it is recommended to seek medical attention as soon as possible; if the patient's symptoms are relatively severe and the chance of relief is still relatively small, you must go to the hospital and let the doctor treat it with medication.

How is bacterial vaginosis treated?

1. General treatment

Keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid scratching. Do not eat spicy foods. Change your underwear frequently and wash it with warm water. Do not mix it with other clothes to avoid cross infection.

2. Medication

(1) Metronidazole

It is currently believed to have reliable therapeutic effects and should be taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

(2) Methicillin (clomiphene)

Shared for 3 days.

(3) Thiamphenicol (Ximycin)

It is effective against a variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has good therapeutic effects on anaerobic bacteria, so it can also be used.

(4) Cleansing and ampicillin

Clean mycin and ampicillin can also be used. In recent years, it has been advocated that no treatment is needed for asymptomatic people.

3. Local therapy

Topical medications can be used for treatment, such as metronidazole suppositories, once a night for 7 consecutive days.

4. Treatment of comorbidities

If other pathogens are detected, use medications targeting those pathogens to avoid the abuse of antibiotics. Pay attention to the medication for systemic conditions, and provide support and immunotherapy at the same time, and pay attention to adverse drug reactions.

5. Partner therapy

Sex partners are treated at the same time.
